A Greek military term meaning "to arrange [troop divisions] in a military fashion under the command of a leader". In non-military use,it was "a voluntary attitude of giving in, cooperating, assuming responsibility, and carrying a burden

James 4:7 Submit (hupotassō )yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

A primary verb; to convince (by argument, true or false); by analogy to pacify or conciliate (by other fair means); reflexively or passively to assent (to evidence or authority), to rely (by inward certainty): - agree, assure, believe, have confidence, be (wax) content, make friend, obey, persuade, trust, yield.

PEITHARCHEO (obey authority)

be persuaded by a ruler, that is, (generally) to submit to authority; by analogy to conform to advice: - hearken, obey (magistrates).  

Acts 5:29 But Peter and the apostles replied, "We must obey (peitharcheō) God rather than people  


Acts 5:32 And we are witnesses of these events, and so is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey  (peitharcheō) Him.
 

Acts 27:21 Since many of them had no desire to eat, Paul stood up among them and said, "Men, you should hearkened unto (peitharcheō) to me and not put out to sea from Crete, thus avoiding this damage and loss.

HUPAKOUO (commanded obedience)
hupakouō

to hear under (as a subordinate), that is, to listen attentively; by implication to heed or conform to a command or authority: - hearken, be obedient to, obey. 

Colossians 3:22 Children, obey (hupakouō) your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord  

Colossians 3:24 Servants, obey (hupakouō) in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God;

Hebrews 5:9  And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey (hupakouō) him
