Romans 14 Liberty Abused on Christmas and Easter

                                                                               NO

                                 For Man Made Pagan

                         Christmas and Easter!

I was emailed and asked a question about Romans 14 and how it allows for vegetarianism so; doesn't it also allow for liberty on false man made pagan holidays like Christmas and Easter as well?

The answer is NO as those holidays were never ordained by God but by the pagan roman catholics. Jesus said if you keep false man made ways your worship is in vain. Mark 7:6-9

I will answer it all in detail below to edify all the saints....

*************************************************

Romans 14 is know as the liberty chapter as Paul is making the claim that we as followers of Jesus, have certain liberties to do or not do and it is not sinful either way. When we study the Word, we must study in context and pull out the correct truth lest we deceive ourselves. We do not have liberty to do anything God has NOT ordained or that He has forbidden as that makes it sinful. See my answers below with **** by them.

Lets look at this chapter and get to the truth:

14 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

******First.. we do see the example of eating meat or NOT eating meat in verse 2. But if we correctly divide the word, we see that both of these things were ordained by God. In the garden mankind was eating just herbs (veggies/fruit) but once mankind fell / death came in... later God also ordained the eating of meat. So either are ok and not pagan or man made or sinful at all per scripture.

Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

******* The Jews and gentiles were sparing over food (not pagan man made holidays) so either meat or no meat was fine and you had liberty in them both. We have NO liberty to leave an make up our own spiritual false holidays. Who makes days HOLY Man or God? God of course alone so they days are no holy at all and need to be rejected by true saints of God! Only Roman catholics and protestant/evangelical types and those who came out of them keep such things.

Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

**** Remember in Matt 7 Jesus said to judge rightly but to judge indeed. We are to judge but judging over food is NOT right so we need avoid it. We judge sin.... not liberty issues.

One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

***** Here we get to esteeming days. This has NOTHING to do with pagan holidays at all but with the holy days / festivals that God ordained for Jews and the Saturday Sabbath. ( read Col 2 were Paul also speaks of these days but NOT pagan days like Christmas and Easter that did not exist at that time anyway)

He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

**** Here Paul says both the days and eating is not a problem as they are all of God. But we know that pagan ways are never of Gods true people. See Jeremiah 10 where it says do NOT do as pagans and Christmas and Easter are pagan...  started by roman catholic heretics. God hates lies and they are lies. See Prov 6 / Rev 22:14-15

For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.

****** We are the Lords so we can do that which is of the Lord but NOT do that which is of sin and darkness. See 2 Cor 6 where Paul says come out of that and God will receive you.

For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

***** Again this is not about pagan ways or sin. How do I know? Both Jesus in Matt 18 and Paul 1 Cor 5 / 2 thess 3 says we ARE to judge the body for sin. The judgement Paul speaks of here is about liberty issues NOT sin issues. (pagan man made holidays are sin and not for Gods saints)

11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.

******The term stumbling block does not mean sin here. It is something that then causes you to sin. Like wrong judging on liberty food/holyday issues. Paul is saying if a Jewish believer wont eat pork... dont force him to or the gentile believer does not keep sabbath, dont force him to. We know that all sin is to be left and repented of or you have no sacrifice in Christ for it. Read Heb 10:26

14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

****** Here Paul drives it home.... he is talking about the food issues that God gave to Israel. Go see Torah law. Pork and lobster was unclean to them in that time, it is not unclean for gentiles or anyone today unless they choose to not eat it out of conviction.

15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

****** Again...meat... it is about food where we have liberty in not sinful pagan man made ways God never ordained.

16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

****** Amen Paul! Gods kingdom is all about righteousness. What is right? What God ordained and He did not ordain man made pagan holidays of Christmas and Easter.... the heretical roman catholics did that. So they are unrighteous and to be left for Gods glory.

18 For he that in these things serveth Christ is acceptable to God, and approved of men.

**** We are made acceptable by our obedience to Christ not by keeping man made traditions. See Hebrews 5:9 that says it also.

19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

****** The meat is not bad but how it is forced on others is bad. No mention of man made pagan holidays at all. Jesus said if you love him you keep His commands John 14:15 so we do not do pagan man made false ways. How is that being holy in all our ways? 1 Peter 1:15

21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

**** Paul gives us the liberty in these things mentioned. To twist that and extend it to that which God has forbidden, like man made pagan ways is a corrupt way to study the Word and it is adding to the Word. Rev 22 says do not do that or you get wrath and plagues.

22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

***** So we are to have faith and partake in what is allowed without condemning but we do not do that which is sinfl and not ordained or allowed like pagan man made holidays of Christmas and Easter. .

23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

******* We are to live by faith and be sure about our convictions on these areas of liberty issues. And what were they? Meat, vegetables, wine and holy days that God ordained. NOT man made pagan false holidays made of man.

Note: Again I need to add at the time Paul wrote Romans, there was NO Christmas or Easter holiday in the Christian faith. ( that came along from pagan roman catholics centuries later) So how could Paul have been meaning liberty on these false holidays? If you think Paul was approving of false holidays not of the Father, he would have been teaching it is ok to do false traditions that he never established. Here is what he said about traditions:

Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.

2 Thes 2;15

The truth is these pagan false man made holidays are LIES an God hate lies!

I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. 1 John 2:21

If you keep Christmas and Easter you are not obeying what Paul said at all. You are sinfully obeying roman catholic evangelical false man made religion!

I hope this was edifying and shows you what we have liberty on and it is NOT man made pagan false holidays tied to Christ.

Here is another article about Romans 14 liberty:

Sadly, men keep trying to twist Romans 14 to be free to do sin but it cannot be done rightly. When we seek biblical truth, it is easy to see that false pagan man made holidays attached to my Risen Savior are NOT pleasing to the Holy Father!

Psalm 119:104 "I hate every false way"

Repent and obey the gospel to eternal life!

God be praised

Romans 14 Liberty Abused on Clothing / Scripture Twister

                                                   In Dress

                                     Refuted

Another scripture Twister Award goes out!!!!

Recently, I had a wicked man (JS) come back to communicate with me. In the past, we had parted ways over his flesh/carnal ways mostly of handling his marriage as he is separated from her. (he admitted how fleshly/vain and prideful he was via weight lifting and such) We texted just a bit but once again, we had major differences flair up so I had to send him on his wicked fleshly way. This time he was defending his unbiblical way of dress. When I lovingly showed him that God put mankind in tunics his flesh rose up as usual. He claimed Romans 14 liberty to dress as he wants as he is NOT convicted about wearing a tunic. Really? We hear this often from worldly fleshly people as they defend sports, make up, corrupt entertainment and pagan holidays.

They all cry liberty but they are all sinful heretics!

Here is a article on biblical dress and what God ordained:

http://spiritandtruthdiscernment.blogspot.com/2020/02/majorchrists-blood-to-so-called.htm

This liberty cry is a very dangerous theology because using that poor stance, any one can claim to stay in any sin and say; I am just not convicted of it. This will mean that lusters, liars, drunks, thieves, adulterers and sodomites can keep sinning as long as they are not convinced of it. In his case, his wife head covers and wears a dress, can now just say well I am no longer convinced of it all, she can wear pants and let her hair hang out for all to see. Or she can stay at the cult church she is at and disobey him as she is NOT convicted of it all per Romans 14.  How utter foolish and heretical of him, all to protect his vanity.

Here is an article that shows you Romans 14 is NOT about anything except food and festivals. (context matters) We are called to OBEY all that the word teaches for the NT body today and tunics from Genesis 3 are indeed for today.

    http://spiritandtruthdiscernment.blogspot.com/2014/03/christian-liberty-is-it-being-applied.html

Do NOT be deceived by such false men and the hireling pastors who use this same false way. You do not have Romans 14 liberty to sin and not obey holy scripture, even in dress. That liberty is for those areas that are NOT commanded to do as a gentile or Jew today.

Do not be a liberty scripture twister!

Study to be approved and rightly divide the word (2 Tim 2:15) do not be a unbiblical fleshly man like I described to you. Jesus Christ shed His blood to purchase us and he deserves better from us.

1 Cor 6:20

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

God be praised

Christian Liberty. Is It Being Applied Biblically or Abused?

Recently I had a discussion with a Independant Baptist modern pastor about various biblical issues. One of the things he kept tossing out there to explain why him, his system of man made religion and his people don't seem to follow what the bible clearly teaches regarding worship, holiness and non worldliness and such was a thing called  "soul liberty". This doctrine is a Baptist invention but in our witnessing we find many who often claim this liberty when questioned or asked about how they live out the biblical life.

When I asked him where is that "soul liberty" taught in the bible, he gave me Romans 14 and so let us go there.

Here we see Paul talking about what believers have been set free from and it is indeed "liberty" to us.
But Liberty from what?

Paul tells us from what in the beginning of the chapter:
Verse 2
For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.
Verse 5-6
One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

In context and historically there was an issue between the Israelites and the gentiles in the early church. The Jews were holding to the food laws and the Sabbath that they were taught to observe and the new gentile believers knew no such ways. This caused much tension indeed. ( Acts 15 tells us "the gentiles" what to observe and it had no Sabbath or Old Testament food laws in it for gentiles now grafted into Christ.)

So what Paul is telling us in Romans 14 is that believers have the LIBERTY from what was in the Old Testament as far as the many rules given to Israel as His nation. Romans 14 is all about food and holy days and nothing else is taught regarding that we have liberty from them.

You are FREE to eat what you like and to gather to fellowship and teach when you want but; you should still be careful to not make a brother stumble over such things. (Example: if someone doesn't want pork... don't cook it for them or eat it before them.)

Verse 21
It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

The reason this chapter "in context" is important is because today we see denominations, modern pastors and people in the pews are often wrongly using this LIBERTY of Romans 14 and applying it to all kinds of situations that have nothing to do with food or holy days. (They have even built an entire doctrine around it called "soul liberty" ) When I inquire and ask about various unbiblical ways they teach or ignore in their body; I am told is it their liberty to do so. So why do I take on this subject and call it out as an unbiblical practice and warn others about it? Jude 1:3 says to contend for the faith as we strive to do this.

As a teaching moment look at this sad situation I encountered:
This same modern Baptist pastor admitted to me that another pastor has na unbiblical / weak watered down gospel but; he stated that same man has the LIBERTY to minister anyway he desires. This is a lie! If you read what Paul says about another gospel in Galatians 1:8 you ill see a false watered down gospel is wrong in all cases.

But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Note: the gospel this Baptist modern pastor teaches is one that says just raise your hand to receive salvation and you need not repent and leave your old life as a result, when the bible teaches no such thing at all. This is a false (another) gospel that Paul warned us about.

If you read this verse (and others) in Galatians  you will see that NO man has any right or liberty to change or alter the Lords gospel! Jesus Christ died and rose again to give to mankind freedom. But this is taking the liberty that Paul said we have from "foods and holy days" right into uncharted and very unbiblical waters that must be rejected out right!

Now they will always toss at us the verse in Romans 14 that says:
Verse 10
But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Again "in context" Paul is saying to NOT judge over food and holy days. This does NOT mean we are to never judge other believers doctrine/actions as Paul teaches us in fact "to do that" when open sin and disobedience is involved in many places of God's Word. (See 1 corinthians 5,  2 Thess 3:14, Romans 16:17 to name a few.)

Let me show you some of the areas that the Baptist pastor and I were reasoning about where he was claiming "soul liberty". I believe you will see that his denomination, like all the rest, have usurped a wonderful liberty God has given His true people from the OT law; to now allow an unbiblical, worldly and carnal lifestyle. I had posed these questions to him and he NEVER could answer them biblically for me? He just hid from them in silence. ( God's Word is not on his side. )

Show us where Jesus or Paul ever gathered up people to preach to .... using free stuff or carnal ways?
(They defend giving away guns and free food to draw people to together just to give them a watered down gospel.)
Please show me where just "raising your hand" but not repenting of your sin gains anyone eternal life in God's Word? (They give a watered down gospel and all you need to do is lift your hand to gain eternal life.)

How does your carnal entertainment filled with violent NFL/competitive sports, carnal video games & immoral movies pass the the Phil 4:8 test?  whatever is good and pure and true
(This pastor was a sports / entertainment promoter.)

Where does the bible say believers are to be silly, rowdy, carnal and out of control.... ever?
(They use silliness and rowdy ways to teach their teens.)
Where does the bible say we should "not" be Holy ALL the time? (See 1peter 1:15 )
(They claim you should dress or act one way in life but another when you GO TO CHURCH?)
Do you teach your body the Lord Jesus owns words "to strive for perfection"? Matt 5:48
(Many church websites brag... "we are not perfect" when Jesus said we are aim for it.)
Where is LOCAL church membership and its man made extra steps in the Word?
(They tell me if I am not part of a local Baptist body... I am not in the body.)
How is denominational names "not" causing division and thus ... it is sin before God?
(They often defend their denomination more than God's Word.)
Why were ALL the men who came before us for 1900 years teaching a "cloth veil on ladies heads" and today you claim you now have it correct?
(They oppose the biblical teaching of this but wont answer the question.)
Why does James 4:4 say "to be friends with the world is enmity with God" but you seek to be friends with the world? (They cater to the world and desire for the world to like them and they use the worlds desire to draw them to their religious building.)

Why don't you practice the priesthood of all believers and the active participation of the saints in a gathering? (See 1 cor 14:26 where many men stepped up not just the paid pastor.)
Where is the tithe EVER taught for the NT church?
(They often ignore whole bible verses in the NT but they stand HARD on the tithe which is not taught anywhere for the NT church.)

Where is your modern pastors role ( one man running the entire body ) found in the New testament? (They fight hard for pastor authority when Jesus said... never lord over / Matt 20.)

Can anyone have this soul liberty too, to do as I see fit or is that just made up for Baptist folk?
(They claim this liberty often but deny it for others.)

This man and many like him will claim "liberty" to do just as they please when God's Word instructs us on so many things we are to practice as His true people for His glory.

Clearly liberty can be applied in areas the bible does not give "direct input" on. These may be topics like voting, drinking of some alcohol, your profession or joining certain clubs / organizations. In these areas, we can simply apply the concepts of God's Word as a test for the decision we must make about them. ( Phil 4:8 is a great testing verse ) In doing that you will find His Word covers all topics and gives us godly instruction; even if not by naming them all.

In closing.... please understand this as it is direct from God's Holy Word.

There is no liberty to change the gospel for the fallen itchy ears of the world (Galatians 1:8)
There is no liberty to be soft on any sin (Matt 5:48)
There is no liberty to be silly and not sober (1 Thess 5:8)
There is no liberty to live a carnal, worldly, disobedient lifestyle. (1 peter 1:15)
There is no liberty to follow a man made vain religious system of man. (Mark 7)
There is no liberty to be friends with the world and enjoy its ungodly pleasures (James 4:4)
There is no liberty to add or take away from God's Word. (Rev 22:18)

Please make sure that you are reading your bible in context and applying it correctly in all things.
Learn to discern what it says and seek to apply that to your life ( in ALL areas ) rather than just trusting in modern pastors and their religious systems that man has invented on his own.

Indeed we have a glorious liberty in Christ!

We are saved by faith alone but many scriptures teach us to obey.

And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him (Hebrews 5:9)

We have been set free from the keeping of the old law for our righteousness because of what He has done for all who will seek after Him. ( His Sacrifice )
But you must never take that liberty and begin to place it in areas of your life where His Word has called you to total obedience and holiness for His glory. By walking in all of His ways; you will show godly fruit that is the EVIDENCE you are really His and not just a false religious convert made by man.

Romans 6
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
For he that is dead is freed from sin.

We are called to OBEY God's Word in ALL things, est were we have liberty to decide for ourselves.

Let us know how we can help you in that?
