Don't Feed The Sin Beast, Starve Him to Death

Do you meditate on God's Word daily and always use His wisdom rather than your own?

Question: If a huge lion escaped from the local zoo would you knowingly put out food for him in your own backyard knowing it might lure him in closer to do you or your family great harm? Most smart people wouldn't feed him at all and they would be on the look out for him. That would be VERY wise discernment indeed.

Jesus said: Be wise as serpent's and gentle as doves (Matt 10:16)

Not long ago I was listening to a claimed religious radio program and the lady asked the preacher "so how do I know what hollywood movies are ok for my 13 year old daughter to see"? They began to discuss what was or wasn't allowable like: dance scenes, swear words, sexual material and such. They did not use any of God's Word as the holy standard but their own feelings and thoughts. This is very common and so I ask; what do you use to discern all things on your life?

Test everything and hold fast to what ever is good. (1 Thessalonians 5:21)

It struck me that there is a very dangerous growing trend existing in our culture and even within the modern religious places today. People and modern pastors are allowing themselves and their children to see, hear and experience things that are not of a Holy God at all. In fact it displeases Him greatly when we are to be striving to be perfect before Him (see Matt 5:48). They are "feeding the carnal sin beasts" that can totally destroy them and their walks. Today there are many people ( yes including claimed Christians ) who seemingly like to dabble in many things that really are not very good for them and are clearly sinful. The main reason for this is two fold. First many are not redeemed believers at all but false modern converts and second; most religious bodies are not holding tight to God's Word in its fullness and disciplining or teaching others what God requires of His true people. (see 1 Cor 1:5 and Matt 18)

It seems rather than people fleeing from the many sinful, worldly and secular options they could partake of every day; they are joining in them and then trying to split hairs about how close they can get to them before it is wrong or harmful. This is very unwise, disobedient and so very foolish as well. There is a old saying "if you play with fire, you will get burned in the end". You see that 13 year old is going to be walking a nasty gauntlet of sinful movie ads just to get to the G movie that really she should avoid all the same. It will not help her grow in the Lord and to deny her flesh and later she will open herself to other more harmful things that tale her from God not closer to Him. We can't be in the flesh and please God.

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:4)

That husband watching the big NFL game is sitting and looking at half dressed cheerleaders and sexual ads that don't honor his wife at all. The house wife allowing Oprah into her home with the "new age" mindset that defies the gospel of Christ is opening doors she cannot close on her own. The teenager listening to vulgar rap or playing violent video games just for fun and sadly his parent bought it for him!

Take every thought captive for Christ 2 Cor 10:5

This is very sad and destroying the spiritual lives of so many. We shall not partake of things that are evil! Let's say your wife asks "dear just how much flirting can I do with other strange men before it is a problem or wrong"? Or how far can your young daughter go sexually before it is a danger to her or sin before God? Can a family go to the beach and not be exposed to total immodest dress and nakedness according to biblical standards? We are to flee all sin if we desire to please God.

No one can please God who is in the flesh Romans 8:8

Allowing yourself to feast on today's carnal media is no different. Our culture is training everyone who follows them to just partake in whatever is popular and trendy. The bible is so very clear and it warns that the devil roams around like a lion seeking who he can destroy. (1 Peter 5:8) It is not surprising he is using the modern media, sports, entertainment and religion to damn the masses. If you don't know Christ as your Lord and Savior you need to realize you are a sinner and come to Him in full repentance.

All have sinned and fall short of God's glory (Romans 3:23)

Then He will lead you out of this dying worlds ways by His Spirit and you can be born again.

You must be born again to see God's kingdom John 3:3

If you are a believer today then you need to flee from all those things that would allow sin into your home, near your family or your mind. When will we wake up?

Jesus said to tear out or cut off whatever it is that defiles you (Matt 18:9)

Please throw out that TV, toss those secular magazines, quit being a idol sports junky and clean up your house of all the vile sin that nailed Jesus to the cross. God calls anyone who claims His name to live holy and seek what is good and pure. Without holiness you won't see God (Heb 12:14)

Repent lest you all likewise perish (Luke 13:3)

Be holy in all of your conduct (1 Peter 1:15)

Tell me what is good and pure in todays media, sports and entertainment world?  see Phil 4:8)
I know how hard it is as we tossed our TV about 5 years ago and gave up all secular entertainment. Yes it was an adjustment but when you make a void then fill it with His goodness it is a worthy thing to do. If we are born again we are to be called out of this world and live in a way that pleases God and shows others we are not of this world.

Be a living holy sacrifice and don't conform to this world. (Romans 12:1-2)

If you won't take those simple steps of self denial perhaps you're not saved at all? Then you need to get into God's Word, learn of your sin, pray for conviction and His mercy to get right with Him today.
Please dont "feed the beats" of lust, greed, idolness, the flesh and self-ism by being part of this world's ways. Seperate yourself and stand boldly on His truth and that roaring beast will flee from you!!

Rather than feed the sin beast we should strive to starve him to death by killing our flesh and walking in holiness and obedience to God's Word always. (John14:15)

Thank you Lord, for allowing us to see the light and use your Word to discern what is good, pure and pleasing to you.

Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl looking for someone to devour
