Are You Christ's Obedient Holy Bride or More Like The Harlot? **

Click HERE to listen to this on John 4:24 Radio.

God's Word speaks of both a holy pure Bride of Christ and that of a harlot of the world. (Different verses can describe either a person or a harlot system of false religious beliefs/ways.)

For this post let us focus on asking this; are you His obedient and holy bride or are you more like a harlot of the world?

A deep study of the bible reveals some amazing things that those who only have a surface level desire or knowledge can never really truly see nor understand. One of those area's is the comparison of His true holy people/bride to a sinful people/harlot. In God's Word we can see a clear contrast between those who are called the saints (Christ's bride) as compared to the carnal fallen people of the world/ a false religious systems likened to a harlot.

God's people are seen as clean and pure while the harlot is seen and wicked and sinful.

First lets look at who are His true people/bride and what the bible says about them:

Psalm 24:4

He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

(God desires those who are striving to be pure and not sinful and corrupt.)

Proverbs 15:26
The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.
(God desires purity and a life striving for perfection/holiness not a wicked life.)

Isaiah 62:5

For as a young man marries a virgin, So shall your sons marry you; And as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, So shall your God rejoice over you.

(Just as the young woman was expected to be a virgin on her wedding day; so does God expect His true people to be true to Him and not be defiled by the fallen sinful world around them by living in sin or committing adultery with the world and its ways.)

James 1:27

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

(God requires that His people keep themselves unspotted from the world for pure religion.)

Revelation 21:2
Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (A holy city .... God desires holiness in those that are His own.)

Revelation 19:7-8   Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.  And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
(God views those who have washed themselves in the blood of Christ and who are obedient as pure and white as opposed to those who are seeking after the things of this world.)

*So the Word tells us His people/bride are pure, holy and unspotted from the world's ways.

Now let’s look in God’s Holy Word to see the opposite that describes a sinful/harlot like people:

Proverbs 7:10-12 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.  (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house: Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.
(This describes someone not in line with Gods purity but with the worlds ways.)

Isaiah 3:16-24 Moreover the Lord saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:  Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discover their secret parts.  In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,  The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,  The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,  The rings, and nose jewels,  The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,  The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.  And it shall come to pass, that instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; and burning instead of beauty.
(This does not describe the holy and pure bride but one who is sinfully adorned/drawing attention to herself and seducing as she goes. This is of the world not of a Holy God.)

2 Kings 9:30 And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window.
(Only a jezebel was painting her face which is not of a pure bride of the Lord. Makeup is from a root word cosmos which really means worldly. His bride is NOT worldly but obedient to Him.)
2 Timothy 3
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
(This describes mankind in the last days and we may be there today as many claim His name but they are more liken to the harlot then His holy bride by their own daily fruit.)

Revelation 17:4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication
(This is not a pure virgin bride but one that has laid with the fallen world in sin and debauchery.)
Matthew 7
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
(Jesus clearly warns those who say they have a faith in Him if they are not obedient and they break His law which is iniquity; He will send them away with no eternal life but unto eternal judgment.)

*By these verses we see that the world's people (the harlot) are disobedient, sinful, hypocrites and very much of the world's ways.
Lastly, if you read Jesus words in Matthew 25 He tells of some virgins who waited for the bridegroom but they were not prepared. As they went off the get oil; the door was closed and they were left out.
Matthew 25
“Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
The question is this:
Are you ready today for the Lords return? Are you truly born again? Are you then as fruit living in holiness and obedience as His bride? Or are you more like those who will find themselves locked outside; the carnal sinful wicked people who are lying with the world daily and are not walking in their white garments (righteousness) ready for their Lord and Savior?
Repent and believe the gospel in obedience today for eternal life to come!
