We all know humans need various physical things to survive on earth. Water, air and food are essentials for the ability to live on in our flesh bodies here. But what is it that we need for our spiritual bodies? How can we know we are living and walking correctly and honoring to God with our daily lives? As always let's go to the Holy Word for our answer.
Jesus Christ who was both fully God and fully man when he walked this earth 2000 years ago gave us the answer in what is known as the Word of God (the bible).
Matthew 4:4 Jesus said:
It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
He gives us here the clear instruction that we are to live by and follow God's Word not man's ways as we walk through this life. What could be more simple then that? But do most obey it?
It is interesting that He said this to satan who was trying to get Jesus to worship him vs the Father. Many times people who claim a faith in Christ will often try to get us to NOT cling to God's Word or try to convince us to live by man-made religion vs His Word. We must reject this as they have left the truth as we document in our site Don't Perish.
One important note in keeping to this command to live by God's Word; one must make sure of several things are being done to be in line with His Word:
1) Does what your reading apply to today?
Example.... was that teaching your focused on given to the Israelites or all of mankind to follow?
2) Is what your reading in context or pulled out of context to prove your point?
Example: don't say we have liberty to do various carnal things because one verse says you have liberty to eat foods once called forbidden.

3) Are you taking ALL of the Word in to consideration or just a few verses?
Example: Just reading a scripture that says just believe to be saved while avoiding the may verses that warn you must obey if you claim you will be saved in the end is very dangerous. God's Word cannot contradict itself!
4) Does what your theology (what you teach and believe) pass ALL of God's Word or just some it?
Example: some denominations ordain lady pastors when there are verses that clearly forbid it.
These are just some of areas we must focus on to be in line and living by ALL of the words out of God's mouth. Most people (including ourselves at one time) have gone very wrong when we were not focused on the Word alone and we allowed other influences in like denominational religion, unbelieving family or this cultures fallen ways to affect how we live. If we claim Him we must reject that and walk in His ways alone! We will continue to write on these topics and others that will help us all stay focused on His truth and not be led stray by our own false ideas or mans traditions ( see Mark 7 ).
Remember to honor Him and be pleasing to God; live by ALL of His Word and that Word says this:
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Timothy 3
Don't be deceived and don't be misled by faulty bible study ways or man's religious traditions. Follow some key basics to reading and learning the bible, then apply God's Word to your life and you will be living by every word out of the mouth of God for His glory!
We are happy to go over God's Word with ANYONE who is willing to go to that Holy Word and test all things to it. (1 Thessalonians 5:21) If a person won't do that we sadly cannot help you to find eternal life to come in Christ.
In love and concern..... we ask that you repent, believe and obey Him lest you will perish.
(Luke 13:3)
