Why is it that modern pastors ALWAYS ask me "who is your pastor" when I lovingly and biblically challenge them with their MANY unbiblical ways? Could it be they have zero biblical response for their error filled ways each week?
In my experience sharing truth with them this is the case indeed!
Does God's Word say you MUST have one pastor watching over you that you report to? They have made the pastor a lifted up position/title, placed him above other men in the body and invented a elevated clergy class that God NEVER ordained to be at all!
My bible says that as a man Christ is my head ......
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ
1 Corinthians 11:3
1 Peter 2:9.... tells me I am a priest myself!
(There was a special priesthood but it is now gone thanks to Christ.)
But honestly who would not willingly yield to true godly men over you if you had them near you? The man made denominational systems do not produce such men as they grow worldly, disobedient, unbiblical Sunday hybrids that we must reject per God's Word.
The example I always like to give is that it is easy to give a law abiding police officer (just doing his job without lording over) respect and authority. If people obey the law he does not have much to do but to just have a presence in the community. But what if he drove by, waving his badge around saying: ...."you must have a cop over you! You just sit and listen to me.... I am the boss! I am in charge here! You let me be in charge as I went to school for this job." Most people would say... he has power issues and they would rightly fear him!
Christ's example was not to lord over men and nor should true godly men who desire to be leaders. A man (weekly) lording over all the other men grows weak unbiblical people in pews. Don't believe me.... just look at the fruit of denominational America today! The entire NT biblical church model was for multiple men to be elders to oversee and not to control others. In truth all men are to be active in the body teaching and such! (1 Corinthians 14:26)
It is true that in one place in the NT Word it mentions a pastor (Ephesians 4) but that is NOT to control everything at all. The model Christ designed was for multiple men to be elders and to guide, be examples but not to LORD over those in the body.
1 Peter 5 says this:
Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock.
It is also true Paul taught believers to obey those in authority over you (elders) in Hebrews 13 but we must be in context. If you go read Titus 1 and 1 Timothy 3 and the qualifications of a true elder; the modern pastors today with their lording over, vain man made traditions and their worldliness are NOT biblical elders at all. The truth is they are NOT to be obeyed per Romans 16:17 but to be rebuked and rejected by biblical Berean's. Most all modern pastors today are just there for the itchy eared people in the pews and all truth is not found in them.
See 1 Timothy 4.
These modern pastors are really still following the pagan roman and protestant model (one priest/pastor) saying you MUST have a pastor OVER you when God's Word says NO such thing!
It says if you have godly biblical elders you should obey them (if they cling to the Holy Word) but it also says they are NOT to lord over anyone and to lead by example! Don't these seminary trained men (another man made invention by the way) realize MANY people come to faith today (and did back through the ages) without other godly people or leaders around them at all and they do or did just fine. How you ask? By following God's Word and the holy spirit teaching them.
See 1 John 2
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
Do not let these false men of God push you around when it comes to biblical truth! Trust in God's Word and go HERE to see what the true NT church was like vs today's man made error filled systems.
God's Word is NOT on the modern pastors side and so they must try to pull the "pastor authority card" which exposes them and their lack of biblical wisdom even more in the end. I think Jesus Christ would have much to say against these lording over modern pastors today don't you?
Matthew 20
25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
We want to be clear. If you have true biblical elders indeed you are to respect their example in the ways of the Lord. But if you have no one like that or you are around modern pastors who only try to wrongly lord over you and usurp power; reject them and run from them for God's glory will you? Christ is your head; not any man!
