ASH WEDNESDAY IS PAGAN



As with everything in the life of a Christian we must test all things (1 Thessalonians 5:21) and abstain from all appearances of evil 
(1 Thessalonians 5:22) so let us test yet another man made tradition to see how it stands up against God’s Word.  

Ash Wednesday Exposed

First of all, this tradition is nowhere to be found in God’s Word so Gods true people should not be practicing it as a spiritual tradition. 
See Revelation 22:14-15 say that those who love and practice a lie will be left outside the gates.

Ash Wednesday is supposedly a representation of repentance by covering oneself with ash and is done in combination with another unbiblical event called Lent.

The ritual marking the forehead comes from ancient pagans and in various pagan religions the placing of ashes on one’s forehead was believed to ensure the protection from their god’s as well as forgiveness.

The pagan Roman Catholic religion intermingled this pagan practice with Christianity several hundred years after Christ, along with all the many other pagan practices they teach.

God’s Word says we are to neither add to nor take away from His Word (Revelation 22:19 and Deuteronomy 4:2)  Ash Wednesday is adding to God’s Word with man made pagan traditions.

 Ye shall observe to do therefore as the Lord your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. (Deuteronomy 5:32)



 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. (Proverbs 30:5-6)

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, And with their lips do honour me, But have removed their heart far from me, And their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: (Isaiah 29:13)


Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, 8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.  9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (Matthew 15:7-9)

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.  18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. (Romans 16:17-18)

Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. (2 Thessalonians 3:6)

As we can see, God’s Word specifically warns His people not to follow traditions of man and instead follow only His Word.
Ash Wednesday (as many other religious traditions of man) are lies, not of God and should be rejected by those who are worshiping Him in spirit and TRUTH. (John 4:24)
