In Essentials, Unity: In Non-Essentials, Liberty and in All Things, Charity (love). Is this biblical?

Here you ever heard people discuss this man made idea?

In Essentials, Unity: In Non-Essentials, Liberty and in All Things, Charity (love).

Is this biblical or found in scripture? No the fact is it is not of God's Word at all.

Paul tells us believers to AGREE perfectly.

Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 1 Cor 1:10

He also says this....

I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. (2 Timothy 4:1-4)

Notice how the above passage has the word ‘doctrine’ in it twice.  Doctrine means ‘instruction, a learning or teaching’.  Doctrine is what we find in God’s Holy Word, the Bible.

***See a article at the end of this post that teaches more on how doctrine matters...

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

We have established (using God’s Word) that we need to agree and that ALL scripture is given by inspiration of God and profitable for doctrine. Now we ask…can someone show us what scriptures depict ‘essentials in doctrine’ and the ‘non essentials in doctrine’?  We ask this because we have encountered this phrase often: ‘Unity in essentials, liberty in non essentials but in all things, love’   (and various rewordings of that phrase that are all false.) Matthew 4 :4 says we are to live by every word of the mouth of God but that phrase did not come from the mouth of God; instead it comes from the mouths of men after the reformation as a way to form unity across the denominational lines…. We even see the (so called) apostles creed being used as such a tool.

Please know it is of man.... NOT God.

Along with this mindset usually comes the phrase ‘not arguing about doctrine’. Well Paul disputed with the Jews in Acts so clearly disputing for truth is godly. Jesus disputed with the Pharisees.
Sadly many denominations and even home fellowships are founded on both of these sayings because they get a mixture of post denominational people who have issues with or have left that man made system and then create their own organization stating they will have unity in the essentials but give liberty to the non essentials and not sit around and argue about doctrine because it’s all about love (charity).

So we ask again….Where in God’s Word is the list of essentials we all must keep? It doesn't exist does it?

And please tell us what pages in our bibles can we rip out because they are non essentials?  If this is the case then Matthew 4:4 is a lie, which makes God’s Word a lie.  Jesus said in John 14:15 that to love Him is to keep His commands and His commands are the Word and the Word is the God inspired Bible that we as Christians claim to follow… yet we are being told by men that there are non essentials in God’s Word that we can tear out and throw away because we shouldn’t argue about doctrine (God’s inspired word for teaching 2 Timothy 3)?????  And we have yet to see that list!
We are told that following Jesus and obeying Him is more important than doctrine. How can we follow Jesus in obedience without keeping all doctrine?

Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. (Titus 1:9)

But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine (Titus 2:1)

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears (2 Timothy 2:4)

Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. 1 Tim 4:16

Based on their faulty theology, no man can obey God’s Word because they don’t even know what sound doctrine as per them; some of it is not essential?  By the way, let’s take a look at the meaning of ‘essential’.

1.absolutely necessary; indispensable
2.pertaining to or constituting the essence of a thing.

‘Essentials’ are absolutely necessary so non essentials are not absolutely necessary.  Those groups who follow this man made philosophy of essentials and non essentials are saying that God’s Holy Inspired Word is not all truth and does not have to be followed as God instructs because it contains inspired word that is non essential?  This is heresy!

We are instructed in God’s Word to separate from people who teach such heresy… Read an article on biblical separation HERE.

If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. (1 Timothy 6:3-5)

Need more verses:

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.
Romans 16:17

And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
2 Thess 3

Many of these groups will say ‘but that is your interpretation’.  God’s Word is so good, let’s see what He has to say about that…

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. (2 Peter 1:20-21)

So these unbiblical (sinful) groups who stand on essentials and non essentials are saying that the “holy men of God who spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost”….spake error (meaning they spoke things we don’t have to heed and obey)?  And that these groups know better than the Holy Ghost who spake through the holy men of God?

This is rank heresy!

This mindset has created a denomination called ‘trans-denomination’ which means they unite across all denominations (except the ones they don’t want to) and quite often it is used to promote the selling of their goods.  The apostle Paul tells us in 2 Thessalonians 3 to not associate with a brother who is lazy.  These false (lying) teachers today tell us believers can associate with people who agree on essentials (whatever those are) and disregard the non essentials (whatever those are and where does laziness fit in?)

We challenge anyone who teachings this non essentials doctrine to bring the scriptures they get this from as we cannot find them.
