Esther Wore Face Make Up ....or Did She?

Recently I had a conversation with a man in unbiblical ministry
(see the warning about him here: http://bewareoffalse-unbiblicalteachers.blogspot.com/2017/04/joshua-chavez-beginning-of-sorrows.html

Correction:
Note: Joshua Chavezwas NOT married in 2017 when he said he would have no problem with his wife wearing make up. He is now married as his wife emailed me Aug / 2020 showing his house is not in order!

Sadly, back in 2012; he was defending many worldly, unbiblical carnal ways. One of them was the use of make up/painting your face for followers of Christ.

He believes it is proper and godly for godly ladies to paint their faces with make up and he quoted Esther 2:12 and boldly stated that.... she wore make up.

But did she really?

This is where good bible study habits must come into play if we are to have the full truth as walk correctly.
Do you have good Exegesis or bad Eisegesis? Read this article to train on those terms:

Basically, we as His people, must dig deep and use wise and proper skills to extract God's truth. This involves going to the root words of the bible (Greek or Hebrew) that give us more meaning to the text at hand.

And this case regarding ...make up.... it is a perfect example.

Lets dig into it shall we?

In many modern bible translations like the ISV in the text of Esther 2:12 they chose to use the word 'cosmetics'.

It says:
Each young woman’s turn came to go in to King Ahasuerus at the end of the twelve month period, at which time she was treated according to the regulations for women. This process completed the period of her beauty treatments—six months with oil of myrrh and six months with spices and cosmetics for women.

the better translation of KJV says ....with other things for the purifying of the women

The Hebrew word for this word in scripture is tamruq.

It means simply to cleanse or clean and to purify.

Esther in context is going though a 12 month purification process to marry the King. She was cleansing and cleaning NOT painting herself with eye and face make up at all.

While soaps and oils could be called cosmetics, yes,  it is NOT the same cosmetics the culture knows of and uses (today) to enhance their personal beauty/looks. By going to the root word we can prove Esther did not paint her face up for greater beauty, but she was simply cleansing her body in purification.

A purification ... like us coming to Christ!

Based on this and others scriptures, we at dontperish.com stand on what I often say and told that man......

The only people in the bible that painted their eyes and faces up were pagans and harlots!!!

1 Peter 3 and 1 Timothy 2 teach godly ladies to NOT adorn yourself at all with outside things but to put on Christ within you. (Joshua also tried to tell me God's Word does not tell ladies NOT to adorn and again he is not in the truth.)

Only a lady with a harlots heart desires to paint up and be made into something fake so others will look upon her. For what reason we ask? Is it sexual or pride or vanity? All of these things are sin before God.

We want better for God's true people so we tell the truth in love.

Please go to these articles to help you ladies (and you men to better understand these issues too) what God's Word teaches you to do and NOT to do all for His service if you claim to be His.

Do not be deceived by the culture or false teachers like Joshua of Beginning of Sorrows Ministries who twist God's Word and truth for their ill theology.
