The Days of Lot
Our study of Matthew 24 showed us that Jesus said when all these signs appear together (earthquakes, wars, famine, disease etc) the end was near. Do we see all of those signs today?
Indeed we do!
Another grave sign of perhaps man's last days before Jesus returns is that we can see in the culture around us the decline of morality, lives of pleasure and the rise of homosexuality. This alone has often marked the near end of a civilization as we can tell from studying history and cultures that have already fallen.
In the book of Luke chapter 17:27-30 Jesus Christ is talking about His return and He tells his disciples this:
They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed
What we can see from this passage is that the culture and people were totally oblivious to what was about to come upon them in Lot's day and that we can surely see happening today as well. Science has become a god to many and the idea of a returning Savior to judge the world and its sin is laughable to many. Add in the fact that many social experts are saying they have never seen an issue change so fast in such a short period of time like homosexual marriage has. Not 20 years ago a vast majority stood strongly against it and today that has flip flopped and laws are being pasted all over that condone sodomy totally against God's Holy Word and warnings.
Jesus said: Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed
When Jesus returns there will be massive homosexuality in the culture as that is why Sodom was destroyed. That is the condition we are in today and are headed for more and more everyday. This indeed is a sign we are in the last days of man's rule before the Lords return.
One last note... He gives a stark warning as well.
verse 32
Remember Lot's wife.
She was the one that had to look back to Sodom and was turned into a pillar of salt. Don't be like her.
He says in verse 33
Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
See the coming signs around us won't you and then set your life and eyes upon the King of Kings who is coming soon in His Glory. Don't be swept away by this perverted culture or by the lust of your own flesh caught looking back.
Set your mind on the things above Colossian's 3:2 and be ready for His return!
