And possibly more, but the point here is dance in the so called 'worship service'. (There is no such thing as worship service) but let's just say gathering. Many religious organizations offer up this dancing during their services and it usually consistes of women (sometimes men) dressed in skin tight clothing, sometimes having loose, see through gauze/fishnet drapings and they move to the (unbiblical) music. Sometimes (though rare) they will have long draping cloth over their body so as to mimic biblical dress.
Their movments can be from sexual, sensual and flowing to thrusting, gyrating and jumping, all the while people in the pews intently watch this sinful, ungodly display before them.
The argument to support this sort of sinful display is that there was dancing in the Old Testament, so why can't we do it today? If you study God's Word, much of the dancing in the Old Testament was not a good thing, nor was it something God commanded. Also because the Old Testament has been fulfilled (Matthew 5:17-21) and we are now in the New Testament (no dance instructed) and should follow God's Word accordingly. Paul said (in 1 Corinthians 11) to imitate him as he imitates Christ. Could you see Christ our Savior, Paul or any disciple sliding into spandex outfits and dancing around on a stage? No, it's blasphemous to even think of.
Another issue against dance in the modern religious organizations is that it's accompanied by musical instruments which are not to be in the New Testament body so when you combine dance (which is not for NT) and musical instruments (not for the NT read an article here: http://spiritandtruthdiscernment.blogspot.com/2014/04/music-and-biblical-worship.html) you end up with what we are talking about today.
Some will ask, well what if they are wearing draping material over themselves, such as like back in the biblical days? We will give the same answer except the outfit not being immodest, but we ask why aren't those people wearing form covering clothing all the time, not just when they are putting on a show? So in essence they are making a mockery of biblically covering their bodies while they sinfully dance around the stage in front of people to unbiblical music (although somewhat covered) only to strip it off and put on sinful clothing and go back to their seat in the pew.
As we stated, most often it is women (or girls) that do the dancing so let's look at what 1 Timothy 2:9-15 says about the demeanor of a godly woman.

We also see women are to be 'shamefaced' and sober'. How can a woman be that when she is brazenly up on stage moving her immodestly clad body to music to the eyes of men and women watching her? Women are also to learn in silence, this shows a place of a women in the body of Christ quietly learning, not up on stage putting on an immodest writhing display to music.
As for men performing in such displays we see in God's Word that the men are to be the leaders, teachers, sober, able to teach, examples and spiritual head of their homes. How can a man dance around a stage, exposing his body to the audience in skin tight spandex and still be an example of a godly man leading the body of Christ?
This is foolish and a mockery of the things of God!
