Spirit and Truth Discernment: Giving Your Testimony

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Rev 12:11

I hear a lot of peoples testimony as I street preach and often they are very lacking, as in not biblical or God honoring. I thought I would offer what is a simple biblical way to present your path/walk/new life in Christ to others in the most God honoring way.

Here are some key simple points:

* Keep the details of your vile sinful life limited/short and give basics not gross vivid details. Keep the sin part of your past brief only as a lead into what God has done in you. 1 Peter 1:15...be holy in all your ways

* Make sure the full gospel (faith in Christ, repentance,new life, holiness/obedience and enduring in the faith) is well laced in your testimony. Mark 16 ...preach the gospel

* Make sure you speak far more about the transformed new life and future in Christ than about your old dead sinful life.

2 Cor 5:17 ...you are a new creation

* Make your testimony compact (you may need to pour it out in a witnessing on the street situation so 3-5 minutes at the most)

Eph 5;16 ..... redeem the time

* Learn to use biblical/theological terms that have real meaning and make sure it is all biblical as it may lead others to God's truth / 2 Tim 2:15 ....study to be approved

*Look to use it as a outreach to others, who need to hear of Christ, His hope and new life in Him.

James 5:19... pulling others out of sin

*Use examples and references that the person you are speaking to will understand clearly. 1 Cor 9:22 ....be all things to all people

*Remember this is about Christ, NOT you. Keep yourself lowly and lift up Christ in your testimony. / John 3:30 ....I must decrease so He can increase.

Those are some good basics that will guide to you a good testimony that is worthy of Christ. Write it down (bullet points or in full) if you need to till you have it memorized and over time it will be part of you and flow out freely.
