We took a short break from the busy ministry life on the road. It is Aug 2019 and we went to rest up for one night at one of our favorite places in Wyoming where a beautiful canyon has a awesome river flowing through it. ( Wind River )
Note: We usually camp in towns at Walmarts....
Not long after we parked at our very hidden and private campsite, a man drove up then walked up and asked about the fishing? I told him I was not fishing and he asked if I was a preacher after seeing our gospel signs on our van. That led to a 30 minute witnessing session when his wife came over and I preached the gospel to them and he got some questions answered. They both received the truth well thanked us and they went on their way.
The thing that struck me about this man was that even though he was smoking, had a beer in his hand and admitted he drinks over 30 beers a day; he was humble KNOWING he is a sinner before God. ( we can relate as sister Debbie and I were drunks once too ) He even knew the Word and seemed to embrace it even as I warned him "he will perish unless he repents and follows after Jesus Christ". My point is this, this sinful smoking & drinking man listen to, received and understood MORE of God's Word then the religious people that come out of Sunday buildings.
Note: the mans wife said she was just praying for someone to tell him God's truth and; we were there right where God needed us :) and that is what we do out here is all about!
Glory to our Great God!!!
This reminds me of the parable Jesus told in Luke 18:
And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10 Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Which one of these men are you today?
The religious type who thinks he is ok before God and better then others or.... the humble man who knows he is in sin?
I pray Gary repents and is made a new man in Christ and he has our website and phone number to help him if he does!
