Gird Up Your Loins and Mind

 

I did a video as I was out in the woods working today about the girding your loins. It is not a subject you hear about often but; for us men who actually dress biblical as God ordained, it has both a great physical and spiritual meaning as well. Watch the video then read below:



      I have posted scriptures about this topic so it will bless you. It was men who did the clothing girding but; to gird is also to prepare and bind ones mind. Ponder this topic as we follow Christ in His blood covenant for our salvation and His glory. 

Note: loins are like the center of the body, the hip area. Some have said where your hips go, you will go as it is the center of our physical movement person and movement. You can fake or fool some with your head or feet movement but; the hip area does not lie about which direction you are headed. 

Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.

Job 38:3

The word here gird means to... prepare for a difficult task. As I tuck in my tunic, I am about to work on a task; so we who gird up the loins spiritually we are about the things of God. 

In their streets they shall gird themselves with sackcloth: on the tops of their houses, and in their streets, every one shall howl, weeping abundantly. Isa 15:3

Here gird is like a belt and to bind. (sack clothe was a sign of repentence and sorrow)

Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them. Jer 1:17

Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God. Joel 1:13


Blessed [are] those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them. Luke 12:37

Here the word gird is to fasten and to equip with truth

And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. Acts 12:8

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 1 Peter 1;13

Peter here is talking about girding up the mind. Think about fastening your mind on the Lord, getting ready to take on persecution or strife in His name. 

There you have it right form the Word. We can fasten and gird up our biblical clothing and we can gird up our minds for the Lords service. 

**Lets list some ideas to help you born again saints gird up your mind:

Live holy, repent of all sin, be ready to give a answer, walk in the spirit, no looking backwards, prepare for persecution, no corrupt associations, be in the Word daily, be a doer not a hear only, pray often, exhort the brethren, come out of the world, look for his coming and do not grow weary in doing good.
