What is it that you are "most serious about" in your daily life?
What things do you ponder, strive for, aim to know better and focus on daily? What is it that you desire to share with others, you try to excel at and what is it that you wish to be best known for?
Would you say that you are mostly a serious and sober minded person focused on what really matters in life? Or are you a person who is willingly distracted by many unimportant aspects of life and this fallen culture so you take a light view of things as you seek to enjoy life, feed your emotions often through pleasure, seek excitement, a good time and mass entertainment that abounds no matter where you go these days? Please know that what you feast on daily, you will become in your heart.
Who we are daily and what we seek and speak about says a lot about what is in our hearts; does it not?
Jesus said this:
A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh Luke 6:45
It is not uncommon in our culture today to see people living life in a matter that most often takes very little serious at all. When you try to speak to people about God's eternal word, heaven or hell; they often do not take much of anything serious as they are clouded with the meaningless. Some may ask us why are we taking on such subjects? Being serious towards ones faith matters especially when you consider that we have searched and cannot find one single bible verses that teaches Christians are to seek pleasures of this world, be silly, indulge themselves in the culture or to live daily focused on the meaningless and not God's Word. If you have those verses please send them to us will you?
It seems clear that the goal of most people in America is to have a good time, entertain themselves and to live the good life and to do that daily! To be honest that was our goal before we were made new in Christ. While having a good life is not a bad thing in general (what is a good life anyway?) the real problem comes in when it defies scripture or when it is your true driving force, purpose and daily passion. You then become very self absorbed/fleshly with all that matters very little vs eternity that you are headed for. Folks we know and get to speak to are VERY serious about having fun and that is the one thing most people do strive for! Part of that so called good life for most is to work to pay bills then retire to play full time. Until then they seek massive amounts of entertainment and pleasure in every area of their lives. And the carnal media has grown into a giant empire by giving them a steady diet of fleshly indulgence to the masses. But it has no lasting meaning or value at all so it robs people of what they were made for which is knowing God and focusing on the eternal. By massive doses of the carnal and meaningless; they train people to focus on mere good times/feelings and to avoid what really matters greatly in the end which is God's Truth. Due to this people today are addicted to fluff, emotional "good" feelings, over stimulation and frivolity that has many very dyer results spiritually. Do you think that could be satans ploy to get people pre-occupied to seek pleasure and follow their flesh; not God? Are you aware of these tactics and avoiding them or are you caught up in the meaningless as part of your daily life?
Sadly this even includes their spiritual life as well which means it is lacking the solid rock truth of God's Word and that is why we speak out about such things here. This pleasure seeking emotional mentality is being used by independent religious groups and denominational America to draw crowds and fill up buildings with people who "think they are Christians" but by their poor fruit; they are false converts having never been born again in Christ (see John 3:3). While all men will be held accountable to God for their own daily sin; much fault must be placed on the religious systems of today and their hireling men called modern pastors who are often found leading with the silly, meaningless, worldly and carnal; rather then the holy/serious things of God. They feed people a hybrid diet of some godly truth mixed with much worldliness/entertainment and never call men out of the meaningless to be serious/sober about the Living God. They will give account one day as well as they are both deceived themselves and deceiving many in the process; all in the name of filling up ever bigger buildings. (See seeker sensitive movement.) We find it very sad that many who claim to be true followers of Christ are not very serious about their faith beyond going to religious services on Sunday or Wednesday evenings. They are not serious about the truth of God's Word, growing in it, reasoning with others over it and obeying it more with every passing day for His glory. They are (like we once were) caught in the man made religion trap and they have separated their faith life (merely practicing religious services) from their own carnal daily life where they are pursuing pleasure at every chance they can thanks to the culture who feeds them where ever they go. Please know we are not viewing ourselves as better than anyone else but we are different and changed by the serious and sober things of God and we desire that for others.
What is the solution and hope from this terrible situation?
Since this is a Christian blog; we aim to focus on the truths from God's Word then apply them with discernment and wisdom. What does God's Word tell us about how those who claim eternal life in Jesus Christ are to live, what should they focus on and what do they strive for daily as His people? Let us look at some problem issues facing people spiritually today and what bible verses we can use to guide us out of that unbiblical non God honoring life to get serious about serving the Lord in spirit and truth. (See John 4:24)
1) Many people have their daily minds set on the things of this life/the fallen culture around them (meaningless) not the Lord's truth and ways (serious).
Colossians 3:2-4 says this:
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.
2) Most people who claim Christ are still chasing after and being friends with the carnal world (meaningless) as they seek pleasure in it and from it rather then walking in Christ alone (serious).
James 4:4 says this:
know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
3) Many are lacking true deep biblical knowledge to guide them because they are not in the Word daily (meaningless) when the should be all about His Word daily (serious).
2 Timothy 2:15 says this:
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
4) People who claim new life in Jesus Christ often live just like the fallen culture around them (meaningless) rather then coming out and away from its fleshly ways for His glory (serious).
2 Corinthians 6:17 says this:
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you
5) It is not uncommon for modern religious people to follow their own ideas, feelings and opinions(meaningless) vs God's Holy Word in ALL things (serious).
Jesus said this in Matthew 4:4
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
6) Have you noticed that many so called believers are living for emotional feeling/pleasure daily (meaningless) and not living as holy sacrifices unto God (serious)?
Romans 12:2 says this:
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
7) Denominational people often walk out of the religious building and right into their flesh/sin daily (meaningless) rather then walking the spirit of God (serious).
Romans 8:8 says this:
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
8) Men today are often acting like silly teenagers pursuing fun/sports (meaningless) rather then being sober minded/holiness in the Lord (serious).
1 Thessansaloni 5:6 says this:
Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober
9) Ladies who profess faith are addicted to adorning themselves on the outside in immodest carnality (meaningless) when they should be carrying themselves always in shame fast holiness (seriousness).
1 Peter 1:15 says this:
be holy in ALL your conduct
10) Taking in daily media exposure; those who claim Christ are still filling their minds with carnal immorality for fun (meaningless) and not meditating on His Holy Word day and night (serious).
Psalm 1: 1-6 says this:
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
The fact is many people are NOT born again in Christ and they are only going through the man made religious hoops weekly as we once were.
Perhaps you are a false convert like we were.... and still need to be born again? Repent today and shed man's religion for new life in Christ. (See Colossians 2:8)

we find anyone to talk about the serious things in life. Even talk about faith and deep scriptural truths is rare with those who claim a faith in Christ and attend a religious service each week. Can you see the problem here? Their lips say faith but the fruit of it is not there when you look closely.
This is perhaps to avoid their guilty conscience, avoid having to change their lives for God, to deny they are going to face judgment over their sin or to numb the pain of lives that have no future, meaning or lack purpose? Good news! That is where the gospel of Christ comes in! God gives us a eternal future and our purpose..... to know and glorify Him by living holy obedient lives before Him daily.
