This question is raised a lot and the answer is pretty simple.
We don't cling to any one version, there are better ones and there are terrible ones.
One of the better ones is the King James bible
A version that is both good and bad is the NIV (It has many areas of concern so we wont use it. )
But an example of a terrible translation would be the message bible as it is very corrupted and perverted by liberal theologians.
Note: I will be the first to admit the King James has a few issues too so we like to test it to the original root words for greater meaning and truth. (We don't cling to any one version but; we use KJV more then the others.)
So how do you know the difference you might ask? What is a good or bad translation?
Well, first you must come to understand that the bible is "the" most accurate document in the history of mankind. There are thousands of accurate manuscripts to prove its recorded accuracy through time which is far more than any other writing known to man. see our post on that HERE with all the details:
What one needs to do if they love truth, is to test the accuracy of a translation by going back to the original words used in those manuscripts and test how it was translated into our English. You can do this by using a lexicon tools on your computer or in book form too.
What this does is list for you all the root words so you can actually translate yourself.
Here is how it works:
You can go to a area of the bible with chapter and verse and pull up the original language ( Hebrew in the old testament and Greek in the New Testament ) and get much more detailed info on the meaning of the root word
It looks like this:
Mat 4:4 ButG1161 heG3588 answeredG611 and said,G2036 It is written,G1125 ManG444 shall notG3756 liveG2198 byG1909 breadG740 alone,G3441 butG235 byG1909 everyG3956 wordG4487 that proceedethG1607 out ofG1223 the mouthG4750 of God.G2316
The words have a number next to them that will take you to the original language word and the deeper meanings of it.
If I click on the word "mouth"...it looks like this in the Greek:
stom'-a
Probably stregthened from a presumed derivative of the base of G5114; the mouth (as if a gash in the face); by implication language (and its relations); figuratively an opening (in the earth); specifically the front or edge (of a weapon): - edge, face, mouth.
So as you can see; you can get to many important meanings and depths with lexicons that you will miss if you just read English or trust in any old translation of the bible.
Know this: men have indeed perverted translations but not the ancient manuscript's that we can use to guide us.
Translations like the Message, NIV or New Living Bible are TERRIBLE & SINFUL translations that have added and taken from Gods Word so please....... avoid them!
We simply suggest you use such tools to test all translations and to grow your understanding of God's Word as you come to more knowledge of God's character and nature.
Please keep in mind you will never come to a great understanding of His Word until your made new in Christ by being born from above.

Once your truly born in Him; now you can gain greater insight via His Holy Spirit that helps you to understand His Word at a level that you in your flesh...never could.
Many people who claim Christ today have one of four main issues against them:
1) they are often religious; but not born from above by His Spirit ( so they are still lost )
2) they are far too man centered in their theology/life and not Christ/Word centered in all things
3) they are simply not in His Word as Berean's studying daily digging deep enough for His treasures of truth and then applying them to their daily lives
4) they are practicing man made denominational religion full of lies and error filled traditions.
God's Word says this in 2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
That is what happened to us. We started to really study and feed on the Word of God and we found many things no one in denominational religion ever taught us about. Our website exposes those as they are life changing indeed! The only way you can understand/walk in the truth is to be born of it and then to study it and feed on it like your life/soul depends on it..... because it does!
