Should Christians Participate in Yoga?

It seems to be the norm to see yoga sessions listed on the calendars of the denominational religious organizations and many people think nothing of joining in, but should Christians be doing so?

Yoga means to be yoked or joined in union and is meant for the person to lose their individuality and become one with the spiritual forces of Hinduism.  The physical poses/postures of yoga, combined with meditation (emptying of the mind) are used to open the spiritual realm in order to lose all attachment to the physical and become one with the spiritual.  The form of Hatha yoga is practiced (by Hindu beliefs) in order to release the power of kundalini (the serpent power) which they claim is located at the base of the spine.

Do some history search for yourself, (it's a very intense subject ) on yoga and it's origins and you will see it is totally pagan/heathen and very dangerous to practice.

Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. (Jeremiah 10:2)

The entire Old Testament is filled with God warning His people about straying from His ways and doing the ways of pagans/heathens and the New Testament is full of the same warnings!  So why would a professed Christian want to practice yoga, of the pagan/heathens?  Many and say it's just for the exercise but there are many other ways to exercise.  This is satan's deception, it's NOT just the exercise because the poses and meditation are spiritual and lead one into practicing pagan/heathen ways that open the mind for satan to deceive as well as giving hommage to false gods by doing their spiritual poses.  (Who do you think the serpent power is?) Yoga is a form of worship/religion, and one that Christians shouldn't even consider.

God's people are called out from the world:

Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant.  Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led.
(1 Corinthians 12:2)

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (Colossians 2:8)

Believers are also warned about what happens if we reject His truth continue to sin:

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins (Hebrews 10:26)

God's Word says:
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. (2 Corinthians 6:17)

Christians should NOT have anything to do with yoga, if Christians are concerned about exercise let's see what God's Word has to say:

For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. (1 Timothy 4:8)

Being concerned about health is a good thing but instead of doing it by practicing pagan/heathen ways, go for a walk, do some hiking, mow your lawn, start a garden, scrub your floors etc.  There are many ways to get exercise in a healthy, God honoring way but most importantly, are you born from above and will you inherit eternal life?  Click HERE to listen to or read a biblical gospel and how to gain eternal life.  Many are deceive by a false gospel, examine yourself to see if you are in the faith, lest you be disqualified. (2 Corinthians 13:5)
