As we witness to Mennonite folks one of the MAIN doctrines they stand on and always bring up is divorce and remarriage. It is a part of their man made theology passed down from the Mennonites before them.
While there are many different flavors of Mennonites, in general MOST of them teach that if you are ever divorced for ANY reason then you are NEVER free to remarry until your partner is dead. We find this interesting for two important reasons:
1) Scripture does NOT teach this and they are in sin to teach it. They tear families apart with their false doctrine in this area. We address it biblically on our teaching blog so go there and study it won't you?

2) We did some further study and we learned that even Menno Simmons their founder (who they are named after) did NOT teach what they teach today. If you need proof of that here is a statement from a counsel meeting that Menno himself attended on that very topic:
Wismar Meeting 1554
“Article IV. In the fourth place, if a believer and an unbeliever are in the marriage bond together and the unbeliever commits adultery, the marriage tie is broken. And if it be one who complains that he has fallen in sin, and desires to mend his ways, then the brethren permit the believing mate to go to the unfaithful one to admonish him, if conscience allows it in view of the state of the affair. But if he be a bold and headstrong adulterer, then the innocent party is free – with the provision, however, that she shall consult with the congregation and remarry according to circumstances and decisions in the matter, be it well understood.”
The truth is they have evolved and changed their teaching on this topic over time and they are not in the truth biblically. Today's Mennonite teaching on divorce and remarriage does NOT match God's Word and it does not match their founders teachings either. How much more hypocritical can you get we would ask?
