The annual college basketball tournament is just another example of man's idolatry and sinful-ness due to his fallen flesh and sadly many American Christians join right into it!
To be sure, God's Word warns us over and over to NOT be of the world and its ways if we claim Him as our Holy God through Christ Jesus. Many will say, oh it is just innocent clean fun via some basketball games but they are so VERY wrong! The entire idea of mans organized sporting events is about entertainment, coveting winning, pride, greed ( over gambling ) immodesty, rowdiness, carnality and yes... idolatry as those who partake of it are placing it all over and above God's Word / warnings to NOT be part of such popular fleshly worldly things.
Romans 12:2 says:
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
James 4:4 says:
know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
Luke 16:15 says this:
And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
The fact is God's true blood bought born again people are NOT interested in what moves the worlds flesh or entertains them as they are about the things of their Holy God.
