Van life is full of many components to make sure you can operate well and survive with all needed functions. A good battery charger is a must in van dwelling life as it recharges your 12 volt battery from your generator so you can have lighting and recharging power in your van when the generator is not running. I wanted to post this to help you decide on one. After trying several different kinds, this is the charger that has worked well for us and it is very low cost about $25. 

They make several models of it and I like it as it is small and it has a meter that tells you when your battery is at full charge. It really charges our battery up quickly as well. Do your own research and make sure you get a reliable charger as without it you will not have 12 volt power for long. You can survive without a 12 volt power source but if you have one, it gives you better options for off grid life for sure.
