Do you know that the meaning of clothes goes back to the book of Genesis and the root cause of clothing is sin?
God put men and ladies in tunic / robe like garments and that never changed.
Because man sinned, there had to be blood shed in order cover man's sinful body. Adam and Eve tried to cover
their body with leaves but God made a skin/tunic/robe garment (shed blood?) of an animal we know to cover
their body in a long loose tunic/robe. (Genesis 3:21) The shedding of the blood of the
animal was an archetype of Jesus coming some day to shed His blood for us / a covering because of our sin. God's Word says in Hebrews 9:22...
And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.
In the beginning mankind ( Adam and Eve ) sinned and tried to cover their forms in a leaf apron. God saw this was NOT enough coverage and ..... in Genesis 3:21
Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
God Himself placed Adam and Eve in a tunic / robe like garment
( to the knees or beyond ) by killing a animal.
The Hebrew word for coat is Kethoneth ..
a shirt:—coat, garment, robe.
In truth, all godly men since Noah to Jesus have worn such a garment to cover their forms per the Lord's instruction and that ha never changed. In fact, Jesus is coming back in a tunic/robe per Revelation 19:13
And he was clothed with a vesture ( robe ) dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
**Today most ( even claimed believers) are disobeying God by showing off their forms in a sinful manner of clothing. The dress standards have followed the fallen culture NOT God's Holy Word.
Note: we do not wear biblical clothes to be closer to God or look religious. No, we wear biblical dress to obey Him because we are born of Him!

And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

was like an archetype of Jesus covering us, because of our sin?
The fact that we have to wear
clothing is not a good thing because we must remember every morning as we put on our clothes, that those clothes are instruments to remind us of our
sin and how Christ had to die for them. Sadly man has perverted
clothing as well. (You can clearly see how man perverts
everything...starting in the garden.) Man, instead of using cloth to
cover the body in shame, has turned it into a decoration and adornment of
making one look cute, sexy, hot, macho, tough, goth, princess etc...Whatever
stereotype a person wants, he can dress himself to look that way when God dressed
us to be humbly covered. If we really think about it, if a person
uses clothing to adorn themselves in such ways, it is a mockery against God and
an 'in your face' about our sin. People wear clothing like a badge
whereas it is a shameful fact that we have to wear
clothing at all!
So this issue of clothing is very, very important. So
very important that is was the first thing God did after Adam and Eve
sinned! Pretty amazing.
It is not legalism for Christians to be obedient by dressing biblically. Men and women should cover their bodies as God has shown us in the garden of Eden with long loose clothing that covers the form. (See HERE for a detailed post on biblical apparel for women.)
