As a full time van dweller, we are often asked about car living and so I did a part 1 that showed a minimum list of things you would want to have to do it. You can see that post here and read it before you go on:

For this post, I wanted to list some "more advanced things" you would want to have as you live in your car to make it more doable, efficient and safe. Here is a list that I am adding to often:
Dash camera, back up camera, fire extinguishers, cb radio with weather channel, blankets with 4 or 5 layers, battery fan to move air, good knife, generator that slides into a receiver hitch, battery charger, window guards (to have them open and no rain comes in), roof vent if possible or window vents, side window screens, tool box, tie raps, tow strap, can of flat tire fix, jumper cables, small solar lights, small electric heat source, cooler, smoke detector, emergency road kit, good water jugs, totes for food storage/clothes storage, portable chair and table, hot water bottle, electric tape/duct tape, umbrella/rain gear, small tool box, flash lights, a tarp, 50 foot out door ext cord, back pack with emergency gear, small propane cook stove with a pot to cook, good road atlas & gps, bungie straps, rain gear / umbrella, extra gas can, sound alarm/self defense item, eye mask for sleeping and pop up blind for shower / changing.
This list may sound like a lot/excessive but if you piled them all up in a heap, they don't take up much room at all. They are not that expensive and in a emergency or in daily car life, they are a real blessing. Your list will vary but this is a good starting point I believe that will aid all new car dwellers.
