Are Your Spiritual Roots Planted in Man's Religion or Jesus Christ?

We all can understand the importance of a solid root. For a tree, it holds it in place so it can feed the body and stand strong against the winds.  For a tooth it holds it in place and nourishes it fully so it doesn't rot, decay or die.  So how important is a correct root of faith to help a person on to eternal truth and the things of God?  Sadly most people today have their roots not in solid fertile ground at all.  Jesus spoke of those with faith who were planted yet they had shallow roots and did not stand the test of time and died off.

"Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth.  But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away." Matthew 13:5-6

This verse tells us of the importance of a "proper root" or you won't survive.

So where are you rooted today spiritually?

When we ask most people "what is your root or foundation" most all say; "I am Baptist or Nazarene or Lutheran etc".  Is this a proper root according to God's Word?

Let's look at the root of these faiths shall we?

*If you're Presbyterian, a man John Knox founded your group in the 16th century.

*If you are roman catholic the roots of your faith was started by a pagan roman emperor man named Constantine around the 4th century AD and it had many more man made traditions added to it over the years by various men called popes.

*If you are a Baptist, a man John Smyth created your sect in the early 16th century.

*If you're a Seventh Day Adventist, your religion was created by a woman Ellen White in the late 19th century.

*If you are a Protestant Episcopalian, a man Samuel Seabury created your group in the 17th century.

*If you are a Mennonite, a man Menno Simons created your religion in the early 16th century.

*If you are Amish, a man Jacob Amman created your religion in the 17th century.

*Lutherans your religion was founded by a man Martin Luther, an ex-monk of the Catholic Church, in the early 16th century.

*If you are a Congregationalist,  a man Robert Brown started it in Holland in the early 16th century.

*If you are a Methodist, your religion was created by men John and Charles Wesley in the late 18th century.

*If you are of the “Jehovah’s Witnesses,” your group came from a man Charles Taze Russell in the late 19th century.

If you are a “Christian Scientist,” a woman Mrs. Mary Baker Eddy came up with your faith in the late 19th century.

Note: If you are one of these “Church of the Nazarene,” “Pentecostal Gospel,” “Holiness Church,” “Pilgrim Holiness Church,” “Assemblies of God,” “United Church of Christ,”, your religion is one of the thousands of new groups rooted in the last 100 years... by men.

What is the result of this man made root of religion?  Please go to this link to test your faith against the unbiblical practices that are flourishing.

What we see is that if you are rooted in "man made religion" you are not then rooted fully in Christ and His ways. How could you stand and grow in your faith unless He is your root, not man?
In Matthew 7 Jesus warns of many who will claim they knew Him but He casts them away!  Could it be because they were NOT of His root but rooted in false man made religion?

The bible speaks of correct roots regarding ones spiritual foundation.
"As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him,  rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving."
Colossians 2:6

It is easy to see that God's Word tells us that it is "Jesus Christ alone" that is the proper root (foundation) not what man has made up and created it most recently at that. We are to be "established" in the faith as God's Word has taught us and not according to man. So you need to know that if you claim Him; you are to cling to God's Word  alone and not man made religion.

Colossians 2:8-10 says: "Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power".

Have you been cheated by the traditions of man (modern religion) when it comes to your proper root in the Christian faith?  I stand hear to tell you we were for many years and we believe that most are today just that deceived by mans false root of faith.

Perhaps you need to take stock of your root?

Instead of saying; lets get back to the root of your man made body or the root of the 16th century reformation (that was very unbiblical in many ways) why are men today not flocking back to the model, doctrines, teachings and ways of the one true and pure body that Jesus Christ Himself started? That would be the first century New Testament church, amen? This is the instruction of God's Word is it not? You don't need more programs, new ways to evangelize, better buildings or more degrees for the modern pastors who are lording over bodies rather then allowing the Holy Spirit to lead in truth.

What most need to do today is realize that they have been cheated by man made religion and then they must repent (turn from) and leave it behind as obedient followers of Christ (Romans 16:17)
Then they will strive to understand they can be "complete in Him" Colossians 2:10 as they go about living for Him in obedience according to His ways alone.

Where are your roots planted today? In what man has done or in the true biblical body of Jesus Christ?

If you will pour over the biblical info on this blog and test it against God's Word you will see a picture of God's pure holy people and His true body life will be laid out for you in spirit and truth ( John 4:24 )

It is there you must plant your roots for eternal life lest you die off.
