When Can Godly Wives Leave Sinful Husbands

The following article is needed to cover a unique situation that we  have encountered over the years and again just recently. It is the situation of a believing woman and her need to separate from a sinful husband to go serve God in spirit and truth.

In the most recent case, see her anabaptist / Hutterite cult body exposed at a link below for their heresy, sin and false gospel:

https://www.dontperish.com/false-teachers-videos--testings/thompson-hutterite-colony-exposed

We teach and support lifetime marriage for those in Christ, only allowing divorce/remarriage for fornication or abandonment. We also confess that any pre-conversion divorce/remarriage is washed clean 2 Cor 5:17 as we are new creations and ALL is made new. I also need to say that I have taught on the topic extensively from an anabaptist refuting perspective. See many articles on divorce and remarriage at the link below that exposes many of the false ways regarding it in the anabaptist circles. (anabaptist's have marriage very very wrong)

On to the main topic of a godly woman leaving a husband to serve God.

I want to list some points that we totally agree on in scripture, then I will frame why it is totally biblical for her to leave her husband over her faith.

1) Wives are to submit fully to their husbands Eph 5:22 until he forces  her to sin or not be able to follow Christ biblically.

 2) If an unbeliever is happy to dwell with her/doesn't stop her from serving God biblically she cannot leave him.

3) If an unbelieving husband leaves her, she is NOT bound. 1 Cor 7:15

4) If she leaves him, she cannot remarry but must stay celibate until he dies or he leaves their union to be with another woman

In this current case that we have helped with, we have a Hutterite lady who left them and she wants to serve Jesus in truth. She was denied by her husband from hearing the true gospel or even being in free will contact with godly saints. Sadly she was living in a cult colony setting, basically controlled and forced to do their false ways. We know she cannot serve Jesus as He has called her to do so we encouraged her to act to be made free. (See that colony exposed below with a link and testimony of a young couple who left another colony.) After much study and prayer, the men (and sisters) of our fellowship came to her side and we counseled her to do the following:

1) To leave the colony life/her husband (a separation) to go be with some blood family that are godly biblical saints and join the fellowship of other ekklesia saints that we know all over the globe.

2) We instructed her it is only separation (NOT a divorce) on her part and she cannot be with another man until his death or he divorces her to lay with another. She is not leaving to divorce him or to be with another man as we would NOT condone that ever nor does she want that.

3) Her husband will be told immediately that if he will arrange for her to live off the colony and be free to serve God biblically, she will return to him and be an obedient wife per Eph 5:22.

4) If he denies that and chooses to stay living on the cult colony grounds, she will NOT return to him and stay in a "separated but celibate state" with blood family saints and in fellowship with other  saints.

Holy Scripture Says

I would finally offer to you the following verses that allow for her to be FREE to seek and serve Christ if a sinful husband denies her the clear command from God to serve, follow and obey Him in all things:

Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore? And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life. But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first. Matt 19:27-30

Jesus said: Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. Matt 10:34-39

Jesus said marriage is only earthly thus our heavenly covenant with God is far superior:

For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. Matt 22:30

Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. Acts 5:29

But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife. 1 Cor 7:11

Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.

1 Cor 7:21

In such a case it must be noted that it is the remarrying and laying with another man that would make it sinful. If she leaves and stays celibate/does not remarry, there is NO sin involved.

Jesus made it clear, He came to divide and separate. We know  scripture also makes it clear that service and faithfulness to God is THE most important matter above all else in this life.

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Matt 22:37

Marriage is wonderful, but it is nothing more then an earthly physical covenant and the blood covenant we have (once born in Christ) far surpasses it in importance. God always allowed for even commanded divorce in the Old and New covenant proving marriage is NOT always "for life" though it was designed to be so but that was before sin came into the world. God is merciful and allows for the spirit vs the letter in all things; including marriage.

I hope that brings clarity to this topic for all and we believe per scripture she and our fellowship that will support her are BLAMELESS.

While this situation is NOT about divorce, you can see many articles on the topic of Divorce and Remarriage at this link. It is a fact that anabaptist's often focus on it and since they are wrong on many areas of it; I wanted these articles posted here to edify / instruct:

May the all the false denominations/Hutterites/anabaptist's repent of all their sinful man made  false ways and find new life in Christ.

Marriage Mysticism Exposed Part 1

In this teaching, I explain biblical marriage and I expose the lie that marriages are always permanent; as God did allow for divorce. I also cover the false idea that a husband and wife are somehow "spiritually joined" when it is only physical. It is only a covenant for earth NOT heaven; so listen in to be blessed on this topic:

Menno Simons Alllowed Preconversion Divorce and Remarriage

I have done many posts (articles/audios) that refute the heretical stance of anabaptist's on divorce and remarriage. (See the link below to access them.) Modern day anabaptists have left the truth of Gods Word and even left the doctrines of their founding fathers like Menno Simons.

Since they love their heritage: in this post I show how their Menno not only saw the exception clause for biblical divorce/remarriage; (see past article below) he also saw and allowed pre-conversion (ignorance) divorce and remarriage. He never told people to break up current marriages to go back to the first one in fact; he strongly teaches against it. Nor did he ever believe you were living in "on going adultery" due to past pre-conversion issues. See his writings right from his own teachings (The Complete Writings of Menno Simons / see page numbers) below in screen captures:

In the 3 pages above you will notice that 4 times he claims that the first is the wife. Now see what he said below...

He clearly teaches that if a man is married to a second wife (in his ignorance) that he is NOT to divorce her and go back to the first, which lines up with scripture.  The mennonites are in heresy for teaching against scripture, tearing apart godly homes, and they don't even agree with Menno, who they lift up, are named after and they follow him.

Do not let the anabaptist's heretics deceive you as they are wicked on so many things as our links show. They are mostly spiritually dead hypocrites with a false gospel keeping the many ways of man.

Anabaptist's Say Paul Taught Men to Sin in Marriage

In this audio teaching, I cover how the anabaptist's and their man made false theology on divorce/remarriage has Apostle Paul teaching sin in 1 Cor 7. Listen in and I prove it all in the Holy Word of God then; I rightly divide for the truth on this this topic.

John the Baptist Lost His Head over Divorce/Remarriage or Incest?

In this teaching audio, I cover the truth about John the Baptist and his death. Spoiler alert; John did not die over divorce / remarriage but he lost his head over calling out Herod's incest. This strikes a blow to the anabaptist false teachers who claim it was only about a remarriage. Listen in and be blessed:

Early Church Fathers on Divorce and Remarriage

The following article is to help people see through the lies of the   anabaptist theology on divorce and remarriage. As a general rule; anabaptists teach a unbiblical one marriage for life doctrine (marriage permanence) and NO remarriage ever under any circumstance until the partner is dead. We are all for one marriage for life but; sin has corrupted much and our gracious God made allowances for it or; we all would be dead!

Note: The anabaptists also teach that pre conversion divorce and remarriage is ALWAYS sinful and that is refuted in my links at the end of this article. In those articles I show both in holy scripture and in men like Menno Simmons who did NOT teach as they do today; as  he allowed for pre conversion divorce or remarriage based on the NEW creation 2 Cor 5:17

Back to early church fathers:

The anabaptist's today will often say that the most all of the early church fathers agree with them on marriage permanence and NO remarriage ever is allowed. I am here to tell you that what they say; it is a lie! I am about to show you a snap shot view of various early church fathers beliefs that had varied views and there was no wide spread agreement at all in on one direction on marriage.

For the record, I am only showing you these ECF men to prove to you the anabaptists error. I do not lift up these men or go by their teachings as often they were into heresy. Jesus commanded I go by holy scripture in Matthew 4:4 and I cling to that in my walk, not other uninspired men.

Below I will list some ECF bullet points and I encourage you to do your own research. These blurbs will show you the ECF men were all over the map on divorce and even on theology. I have the citations and books referenced for myself but; I want you to go and do your own research on this; if you are that interested.

Lets move on to some ECF men and their teachings.

***********************************

Hermas 125

This ECF writer was said to believe in divorce due to fornication but in order to allow repentance, the man should not remarry. He never says it would be sinful to remarry after fornication. He also in heresy believed in angels visiting him and you could only repent once after baptism.

Athenagoras 133 to 190

He wrongly believed even after death of a spouse to remarry was adultery. He also (in a weird idea) believed sex was NEVER to be enjoyed and it was only for procreation.

Clement of Alexandria 135 to 215

He said to remarry while a spouse lives was not a sin per the Apostle but; it was better then to burn with lust.

Tertulian 155 to 220

He believed that fornication rightly dissolved the marriage and you could remarry. He also taught woman (who either are widows or divorced) should remarry only in the Lord. He also allowed for pre conversion marriages under the NEW creation in Christ. To show you the confusion of ECF's; later he went into strange beliefs (montanist) and believed even widows could NOT ever remarry.

Origen 185 to 253

He mentions other church leaders allowing remarriage while a partner lives and he may not have liked it but; he says it was profitable as compared to other worse things. Note: Origen also spoke about fornication dissolving he marriage union and how God divorced Israel and remarrying the Gentiles

Irenaeus 185

This ECF wrote against divorce but many believe he was only against wrongful divorce not so much biblical divorce. He was not clear on remarriage

Lactantius 240 to 320

He taught that adultery breaks the marriage bond and a man could remarry after the happened.

John Chrysostom 344

He was totally against remarried after divorce and called for celibacy

Ambrosiaster 366

He was totally for the man to remarry after fornication then divorce and he allowed remarriage after abandonment

******************************************************

Clearly the ECF's are NOT unanimous on marriage at all.

Keep in mind if you want to hang your theology hat on these ECF men; they were the ones that eventually took the world closer into heretical Roman Catholic ways via Bishops ruling in big regions, baby baptism, mystical Lords supper theology, clergy control, pagan holidays, building centered ritual religion and many other unbiblical ways.

Apostle Paul warned when he left wolves would come in and they did!

For I know this: that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Acts 20:29

Today; be warned of the great danger of anabaptists of that will destroy godly marriages over pre conversion issues and counsel you to divorce and go back to old spouses.  God called that an abomination in Deut 24 / Yet these anabaptists; they themselves live in great sin and hypocrisy on going via their many false ways. Do not hearken to their false teachings/traditions of men.

Note: We also have no evidence (major writings of anyone in the early church) people ever denied entrance into the Lords body via pre conversion divorce and remarriage issues. Nor do we see instruction to put away second marriages; once you are in the Lord as modern anabaptists do teach. (Tertulian and Menno allowed for it)

We would all be better served eternally by sticking to the holy scriptures and not these obviously untrustworthy often unbiblical men. I myself need only the scriptures to clearly show me that:

* God does want marriage to last a life time but; sin has come in.

* God Himself called for divorces (see Ezra 10)

*God allowed divorce with Moses see (Deut 24)

*God divorced Israel, twice (Jer 3)

*Jesus allowed for divorce/remarriage over fornication (Matt 19)

*Paul allowed for preconversion divorce / remarried saints and for divorce on biblical grounds (fornication) as well as some remarriage. (see agamos 1 Cor 7)

I encourage you to be studied to be approved and rightly divide for truth always. Unless you do that; surely you will be deceived.
