God’s Not Dead Movie Review- and Warning!

Disclaimer:
The following is a review/warning of the newest so called Christian Hollywood movie called ...God's Not Dead.   We are in no way supporting Christians going to partake in movies at all. We are only writing this because so many are being influenced and going to see this movie and so it must be discerned correctly using God's Word to warn others. We did not see the film but just a copy of its script/other reviews show us its many unbiblical aspects.

The movie is about a professor that challenges his students to acknowledge that God is dead by writing these three words “God Is Dead” on a piece of paper .  One student (Wheaton) however, refuses to deny God and is therefore challenged by the professor to defend his believe in God by a series of debates with the class serving as judge and jury.

Quoted: In the first debate, Wheaton boldly declares to his classmates, “We’re going to put God on trial!”

So what this shows us is that Wheaton is putting teenagers as judge and jury of the omnipotent Creator God of the universe.  Let us look to see what God’s Word says about this:

Luke 4:12 And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.    Only a fool would try to be judge over the judge of the universe.

Wheaton also ignores Romans 1:18-32 in which God’s Word states ‘what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them’ and man has no excuse.  So the existence of God is not the issue, it is whether they will bow to Him as King and Creator.

Instead of using God’s Word as Wheaton’s foundation, he appeals to reason and uses quotes about evolution and from Roman Catholics therefore man’s words were elevated above God’s Word.

Throughout the film there are examples of unbiblical council from ‘Christian’ characters, secular psychology and the failure to acknowledge sin as rebellion against God.

The gospel that should have been preached was cast aside for an emotional appeal and the elements of ‘repent and believe’ which are preached throughout God’s Word, are not included in the movie.

Wheaton blurs Genesis 1 account of creation with God speaking the world into existence like a big bang theory, affirms an old earth age,  and seemingly implies that God could be behind random evolution; therefore denying the truth of Genesis 1 as written.

To be fair, apparently the atheists and non-Christians were portrayed stereotypically and unfairly.  For a ‘supposed’ Christian movie it is uncharitable to portray such stereotyping and Christians are to ‘do unto others’.   Matthew 7:12.  This could cause a lack of empathy to those who are not in Christ by weak Christians who may believe such exhibitions.

There are appearances of some characters of Duck Dynasty, the band Newsboys is promoted throughout and some of the actors have participated in worldly movies (they boast about these movies right on the God’s Not Dead’ site)  promoting Sex and Nudity, Violence and Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.

God’s Word teaches separation from the world (Romans 12:1-2) and biblical (modesty) dress (1 Timothy 2) and head covering  (1 Corinthians 11) for Christian women, these fundamentals of the faith are largely ignored through the movie and therefore…

Psalm 101:3 I will set nothing wicked before my eyes

This is not all, but certainly more than enough evidence to weigh heavily for the world and against the truth of God’s Word.  We are also instructed in 1 John 2:15 not to love the world or the things in it so instead of using the Lord’s money and time to watch something unbiblical that the world has created; use that money to buy or print gospel tracts and take those 2 hrs and hand out tracts to those entering in the theaters.

Let’s end with a Word from our Creator….

Psalm 1:1-6
 Blessed is the man Who walks
not in the counsel of the ungodly,
    Nor stands in the path of sinners,
    Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
    And in His law he meditates day and night.

He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water,
    That brings forth its fruit in its season,

Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.
