The "Son of God" Movie Review and Warning!

One great thing about living the simple, holy, set apart biblical life is NOT having to deal with the carnal offerings that come on the television or in movie theaters that so many flock to for entertainment. We do not have a TV nor do we watch movies at all and many will ask us why this is?

Clearly God's Word teaches we are to live a set apart holy life for the Lord. (see Romans 12:1-2 and 1 John 2:15 ) Also Phil 4:8 talks about focusing on what is good and pure so television and movies are not in that category. We have found that killing our flesh and denying ourselves what the world says is "ok or fun", has created a maturing process in us as we grow in Christ. Please keep in mind: we do such things "because" we are redeemed not "to be" redeemed.

Because this is a discernment blog and our aim is to help others make wise biblical choices in all things, we want to remind you to test all things through the filter of His word before you just partake of it. And since we do run across others who watch these things (many claim Christ) and they will comment on them; we often will research a topic to be able to help others see through it for God's glory. The movie the Son of God is due out this Friday 3/7/2014 and we wanted to warn others about it.

For the record we did not see the movie but have heard from reliable sources of its various issues.
we would like to share with you some of the concerns and why you too should avoid it all together if you claim to be God honoring at all.

1) This movie was made by the same people who did the Bible mini series that was full of unbiblical
aspects. (It had false teachers like Rick Warren as consultants for it)
2) The producer of this movie is a roman catholic new ager full of heretical beliefs and ways
3) The movie is void of the "real gospel message" that Jesus came to bring mankind
( you can find that gospel HERE )
4) The movie has various unbiblical aspects like claiming there was 13 closest disciples and one was a woman (there was only 12 of the closest disciples and they were all men)
5) The movie has Jesus saying "He came to change the world" when he never said that at all.
6) The movie portrays a man's image as Christ and that is something that should be avoided altogether ( this is where people get the long haired feminine looking Jesus image from)
7) The viewing of the crucifixion for entertainment sake is NOT God honoring. He died once for all who would repent and seek Him and it is done. (The bible records it for us and we don't need visuals that only feed the human flesh we are told to kill in the scriptures.)

*There are many more unbiblical aspects to this film as reported by others so why honor it at all?

God's Word and Jesus Himself tells us we are to seek truth (John 4:24) and the Apostle Paul said we are to expose evil (Eph 5:11) and so I hope I can warn you here about this movie to be avoided for God's glory. They say millions will be going to see this movie and we are confident in telling you most of them are not His true people at all. Jesus said few will find it and His set apart believers are not of this world system that would view His death on a cross as entertainment with popcorn.

Many will try to say "but some good can come of this and that I should not condemn it when some may see it and be drawn to God somehow"! Well, we can say the same thing about using pornography to get someone to look inside a bible but that would be sin. God requires His people to reject all sin (Romans 6) and to strive to walk in perfection for His glory (Matt 5:48) To use something less than biblical truth and purity and goodness for His glory is called pragmatism and it is sinful indeed. (see our post soon on pragmatism) God can use ALL things for His glory but we as fallen humans cannot and should not do that. If you are really serious about learning more of His death and His resurrection for the salvation of His people get your bible out and seek Him there. Let us know how we can help you in that anytime? The fact is God is not into what the world esteems highly.

The Lord despises what the world and esteems. (Luke 16:15)

Please use your discernment skills, the Holy Word and wisdom to see that Christ's true redeemed people will avoid this error filled offering and warn others about it rather than embrace or esteem it like the fallen world is about to do.
