What is the main focus of your heart and mind as you go through your average day? Is it the things of God or are you swept away into the many offerings and worldly activities of this life that only lead to futility and death?
God's Holy Word tells us that satan has distracted and blinded so many: 2 Corinthians 4:4
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
In today's hectic, fast paced and complicated world we must be very careful that we are focused on what are the most important things lest we be distracted on the meaningless and those things that are only fading away. Most are perishing as they dwell in the things of this life. How can we who claim Christ help to hone ourselves to be about the Lord's holiness and His work and not be of this world's ways?
By keeping our focus in and on the Word of God for all aspects of our lives; we can make sure we are doing what the Lord's Word tells us to do daily. Let's take a look at several areas of scripture that will help us to focus and not be distracted followers of Christ.
Psalm 119:10-13
With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. Blessed are You, O LORD! Teach me Your statutes.
We are taught to seek the Lord and to hide His Word in our hearts. This will keep us from wandering from His commands and encourage us to not sin against the Lord. If you don't hide His Word within your heart you may be easily distracted away from it.
What are you working on hiding in your heart today? God's Word or what this world offers you?
Colossians 3:2
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
Here the Apostle Paul tells us to set our minds on Christ and that which is above if we claim to be His.
Are your affections on Him or on the things of this world around you? 2 Corinthians 10:5
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ
Paul tells us that we are to take every thought captive for Christ not just some of them. This is virtually impossible if we sit before the carnal offerings of the world for fun and entertainment.
Can you say that your every thought is held captive for Christ, meaning each one would pass the pure good and true test of Philippians 4:8 to fully honor the Lord?
Romans 12:2
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
As His people we are to not conform to this worlds ways so when others are running to partake and enjoy something that the world is craving for; for His glory it would be best that we refrain for it.
What do you spend your free time on these days? Are you partaking of what the fallen world has for you like entertainment, sports, hobbies etc? Or do other people know you as one who is set apart (holy) with your focus on Christ fully in obedience to His Word?

Psalm 1:2
But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
The bible proclaims His people delight in His law and they focus on it both day and night as evidence they are His holy people!
What is the focus of your life besides what we must all do daily to provide and care for our families?
Are you setting yourself on his Law (Word) day and night or are you more like a religious person who does set rituals of Sun/Wed services but live like the world the rest of the week?
If we are honest with ourselves we can all admit that it is very easy to allow the cares and things of this world to allow us to become distracted and not focus on the Lord as His Word tells us we must. Sadly it is the religious systems of today and people's own made up faith beliefs that teach them NOT to stay focused on the Lord day and night. It may well be that those who don't want to focus on Him are not of Him at all (false converts) and they will hear in the end 'away from me I never knew you'? (See Matthew 7)

We want to encourage you to set your mind on what is to come (His kingdom) and away from what is fading (this world) so you can better stand in these times we live. Don't let anyone tell you that you can be too zealous for God or too focused on His ways. The same foolish people who will tell you that the Lord wants you to have your own life and fun; are those who do not focus on Christ and they are distracted by the world and its ways; to their demise on judgment day.
Will you allow the distraction's of this life to keep you from walking closer to God today in holiness and obedience? Please, if you claim Him will you shed anything that steals your time and attention off the Lord so you can be planted firmly and set deep roots in His Word and bear much fruit for His glory. If you are not His today; repent and believe the gospel for eternal life to come.
