In our ministry experiences we are always running into those groups and people who say...
"Jesus is NOT God."
That is a lie and a direct attack on the gospel of God that gives us eternal life! We felt that we really needed this article as it is the foundation of our very faith of who Christ really is.
We will show you why (per scripture) Jesus Christ 'IS' God.
False groups and cults like the Mormons, Buddhists or Jehovah Witnesses and many others will tell you Jesus is NOT God but is instead just a Prophet, an angel or the Son of God but NOT fully God Himself.
As with all things we believe and hold to, we will go right to scripture and PROVE for you that Jesus Christ WAS and IS God. We will show you (below) that the concept of 3 in 1 ( some call it the trinity ) is indeed in scripture and not a man made doctrine at all.
In Genesis 1:26 it says let US make man.
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:
This is proof of the 3 in 1.
In 1 John 5:7 it says this:
For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Another proof of God, 3 in 1.
Now lets focus on Jesus Christ and what scripture and Himself tells us who He really is:
In John 1 it gives a VERY clear declaration of who the Word (Jesus Christ) is:
This verse alone deals a death blow to those who deny Jesus is God. Some cults have actually edited this verse and re written scripture to make their false ways work but the truth is there for all to see.

In John 8 Jesus says:
The term I AM goes back to God telling Moses who He was on the mountain. Jesus uses the same term for Himself, I AM.
The Jews knew what he was saying. He was indeed declaring Himself GOD, that is why they picked up stones as under their law, claiming to be God was punishable by stoning.
Need more proof from scripture that Jesus is God?

Keep in mind per Exodus 34:14 and Deuteronomy 8:19 worship can only go to God so the Son is God to be worshipped.

Philippians 2:10-11 says
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
The same thing is said of God in Isaiah 45:23
And finally in Matt 23 Jesus gives more evidence of who He really is. He says I as He is talking about history and God dealing with Israel.
Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

I have heard some say 'God cannot be tempted so when Jesus was tempted on the Mount by satan this proves He is NOT God.'
What they fail to consider is the full truth about Jesus. He was BOTH fully man and fully God. When tempted His human flesh was involved but as fully God; He is above ANY sin or temptation. Only if you grasp the 3 in 1 concept of God that scripture teaches can you see clear to the truth. If you deny those foundational truths you MUST wrestle with God's Word.

ONLY a perfect sacrifice would do to once and for all atone for mans sin and that could ONLY be God Himself! (not a man in just flesh)

Jesus Christ is God.
Salvation comes as a FREE gift from God due to Christ's work on the cross for us. Of course those who have a true saving faith WILL have holiness and obedience of good works as fruit (not works ) that they are His.
