Christmas Trees - Don't Do As The Heathen

It’s that time of year when people will be searching for the perfect tree to decorate. (we once did it ourselves )  Many will go to a parking lot and pick one out that’s already been cut down and some will make a day of it by going to tree farms and picking out a live one, sawing it down and bringing it home.
In today’s commercialized world there are some who have imitation trees that are kept in a box and put up just like real ones.  They all (real or fake) are placed in some sort of holder and fastened to keep them from tipping.  Out will come the lights and then the decorations in which the trees will be adorned in silver and gold as well as other popular colors such as blue, white and red.

Did you know that God’s Word warns His people NOT to do such false pagan things?  Let’s read Jeremiah 10:1-5…

Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:

Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.  For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.  They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

Did you read God’s admonishment NOT to be like the Gentiles/pagan/heathen?

“Do not learn the way of the heathen”
So let’s look at this in comparison of the pagans to the people of today:

Heathens cut down trees and brought them home.
*Professed Christians cut down trees and bring them home.

Heathens fastened them so they wouldn't tip.
*Professed Christians fasten them so they won't tip.

Heathens adorned them in silver and gold.
*Professed Christians adorn them in silver and gold.

It's clear to see that professed Christians HAVE learned the way of the heathens and are doing so today! Keep in mind the practice of adorning this tree is also linked to an unbiblical holiday called Christ-mass making it even more unbiblical to practice.

God clearly said:
“Do not learn the way of the heathen”

Thus saith the Lord!

Some will argue that the heathens were using the decorated trees as idols and that they (themselves) are not doing so and that they consider it just a pretty decoration. We can look at it a couple different ways.  First off, God said NOT to do as the heathen do and if that isn’t enough let’s look at the whole issue in context.

*The fact is this: We are not claiming you worship your tree. No but; by using pagan ways associated to the things of God (your Christmas celebration) you are in rebellion to God's Word that says...DO NOT do that!

And...before you ask.... no Romans 14 does not apply here. We do not have to liberty to do pagan ways for the service of God, period! ( Romans 14 was about food laws and OT to NT ways ... not pagan ways. Read in context please...

See this article on Liberty explained:

Christ-mass is a pagan roman catholic holiday (CLICK HERE to see if Celebrating Christ-mass Is Based On Truth Or Lies) and let’s go see (again) what God’s Word says about that.

“Do not learn the way of the heathen”

God’s Word is true and therefore true believers are to follow it in every aspect of our lives; being a living sacrifice:

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.  (Romans 12:1)

So how is it a believer of Jesus Christ can present their bodies as a living sacrifice, acceptable to God if they are disobeying God’s Word and ‘doing the way of the heathen”?

Jesus said in John 14:15 that if we love Him we will keep His commands.  These commands are written throughout the bible and:
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Scripture speaks for itself and nothing more needs to be said about Christ-mass trees.  They are not to be a part of a true born again believers life and should be rejected (as well as the entire Christ-mass event and anything it pertains to.)

It does not matter if you are not worshiping this tree; what matters is... do you OBEY God? (John 14:15)

It so sad to see mainstream, denominational and evangelical bodies caught up in practicing this pagan way. God's true people are to come out of falsehood, not live in it!
