One of my brothers encountered a false teacher on line who tried to stumble him with this poorly used verse to try to prove once saved always saved. So we studied together and I want to share it here.....
Romans 11;29
For the gifts and the calling of God are.... irrevocable.
Calvinists will use this pet verse and say SEE... the calling of God is irrevocable!!!
They say God wont take the calling back or they cant be lost but that is NOT what it means at all!!! These once saved always saved false teachers love to use this verse to stumble you into their false demonic doctrines!
Do not fall for it ... but use good bible study habits.
If you read the KJV and look at the word for irrevocable it is without repentance.
For the gifts and calling of God are without... repentance.
In the Greek it is.... ametamelētos and it means to NOT be repented of or do not turn away from. It has NOTHING to do with God making it irrevocable at all. It means we should not turn away from it....
How can I prove this?
1 ) here is another verse that uses the same Greek word and repentance fits perfectly, NOT irrevocable.
For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

2) read Romans 11 in full where right there it WARNS you can lose out on salvation.....
verse 21- 22

Without a enduring in a saving faith, you will NOT see heaven but be cut off from it!
So much for one of their pet verses as it is refuted when divided rightly!!!!
