None Righteous Explained Romans 3:10

                               TWISTED!!!!

******************************************

I had a man in Canada contact me for help in the faith. He wanted help in his battles with sin and he was fearful as he said he wanted to be made right with God lest he perish. I helped him to identify what was his sin and how it was causing him to stumble daily. He was mostly humble and did not make excuses for his sin. I asked him to go off and wrestled with that all before God and then come back to talk more.
When he came back some days later ( after talking with a unbiblical friend of his )  he was angry, saying we all have to sin daily and he was making excuses for his own daily sin while still claiming to be of God and in good standing.

He quoted Romans 3;10
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

He was claiming it proves no one has ANY righteousness and even born again Christians; are big sinners daily no matter what we try to do. He was defending his sin and making excuses for his carnal fleshly ways but he is wrong! Because of that; I wanted to do a quick teaching to help him and show you the flaw in his theology.

Some quick basic bible study facts first:

*We know that God's Word can NEVER contradict itself
*we know it is dangerous to pull out one verse out of context and make your theology out of it
*we know going to the bible to prove what we think vs going to the bible for its truth is very dangerous ( Exegesis vs Eisegesis )
Here is a article on that topic:
http://spiritandtruthdiscernment.blogspot.com/2014/02/how-to-correctly-study-bible-eisegesis.html

Note: sadly the man who contacted me broke all three of these basic bible study rules. With those basic keys in mind; is it really true no man has any righteousness before God ever as he claims?

No, it is not true and here is why:

Using the bible study basic above lets test for the truth. We can see MANY MANY examples of people who "had righteousness" before God in the past and here are some examples:

And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. Genesis 7:1

and

By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. Hebrews 11;4

and

Therefore the Lord hath recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight. 2 Samuel 22:25

Psalms and Proverbs are loaded with verses about the righteous people and here are several:

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. Psalm 37:25

He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. Proverbs 2;7

As further proof Jesus himself said this about those who will act out in good works / righteousness and they will benefit in the future judgement day. Matthew 25:
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

It is clear per scripture; men can be righteous before God. But we know God's Word cant contradict itself right? Now that I have proven the bible clearly calls people righteous, you may ask then what then does Romans 3:10 really mean?
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Here is more of Romans 3
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 Their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 Destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 And the way of peace have they not known:
18 There is no fear of God before their eyes.

If you do a simple quick study of that area of scripture, you will see the context. Interestingly Paul was actually quoting from another source and this will help to it clear it all up.

Apostle Paul in Romans 3:10 was actually quoting Psalm 14:1-3
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Knowing this; all we need to do is simply ask what is the context of this verse Paul was quoting? Since we know God has seen many people as righteous which we have proved; Romans 3:10 / Psalm 14 is then clearly talking about UNBELIEVERS ( even atheists / fools ) and that situation at that time. It in no way means that NO ONE can ever be righteous in Christ. To believe that you must "scripture twist" in a big way and pull it far out of its context!

God commands we be holy and obey Him in all our ways. 1 Peter 1;15 and John 14;15

Note : In Acts 5 a husband/wife is killed by God over one lie and this is after grace had come in Christ. This means if you have ANY sin your keeping, you best repent and turn from it now! Hebrews 10:26 says willful sin will not be forgiven and it makes a mockery out of the blood of Christ! God will not be mocked / Gal 6:7

Perhaps you can now see the real danger of cherry picking verses out of context and not seeking the full truth. It allows men ( like this man in Canada ) to stay in their sin and just tickle their itchy ears but he is in great danger, we pray he repents!

I want to be very clear:
While we CAN indeed have righteousness before God on our own by how we live; we DO NEED CHRIST'S PERFECT RIGHTEOUSNESS for salvation
None of our own righteous ways will save us. That is the gift God's gives us via the gospel. Not one of us has that kind of required perfect righteousness, to stand before God on our own, no!

We all have fallen short of God's glory. Romans 3:23

So how do we get any righteousness before a Holy God?

By right living/actions:
The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath. Proverbs 11;23

By faith:
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. Romans 1:17

By His shed blood:
For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Cor 5:21

The truth is very clear that believers and followers of Christ can seek after, live out and have righteousness before God by faith/obeying His word ( and he commands it all over the bible / Hebrews 5:9 )  but it is NOT enough to gain eternal life. No, that is where the gospel of Christ comes in.
( see the gospel below )

Please make sure you are studying God's Word by seeking out / exposing any so called contradictions, always use verse in context and seek the truth vs proving your own beliefs

Here is another article on the "false filthy rags" theology with more proof that people can have righteousness before God:

I hope you are studying to be approved ( 2 time 2:15 ) and not twisting scripture to your own damnation!
