Many who cling to eternal security and once saved
always saved lies, like to use 1 Peter 1:3-5 to "so called
prove" their theology that once you believe one time,
you are GUARANTEED eternal life no matter what and
you do not even need an enduring faith. Is that true?
Let's test this out....
1 Peter 1
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God.....
***Calvinists always stop there but the VERY next words in the verse are:
through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
*****Peter says clearly is it through faith!!! So is it a one time or a enduring faith????
Verse 9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
****Yes, it says to the END of your faith to salvation, it is an "ongoing" faith not a one time thing! A enduring faith is what saves us.
moving on.....
Verse 13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
****It says HOPE TO THE END, more proof of "enduring" in the faith like Jesus saying those who endure to the end will be saved Matt 24 .
There is even more...
Verse 22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
****Who cleanses us? Jesus, of course, but it is clear we are purified in Him by OBEYING THE TRUTH. This would be the faith with WORKS ( see James 2 ) that calvinists hate but it is all over God's Word.

with the rest of God's Word, lest you be deceived.
