I received a good question on Mark 16 via email so I thought I would answer it here to edify all the saints.

Hello brother Jim and Sister Debbie,
Mark 16:17-18 NKJV
"And these signs will follow those who believe: In my name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Jesus is giving His disciples The Great Commission and this appears to be the ending of Him addressing His disciples.
We had covered how the gift of tongues wasn't always given to every believer/follower of Christ.
Will you help me better understand what Jesus is saying here?
****** This is a direct prediction of the future events that we see in scripture after Jesus rose to go be at the Fathers right hand.
In scripture we see Paul casting out demons in Acts 16. In Acts 2 we see men speaking in tongues. We see Paul getting bit by a viper in Acts 28 it is about snakes and poison not harming him. Lastly, we see Peter healing the sick in Acts 3. It in no way says ALL men will speak in tongues in Mark 16. It just says men will and they did. While the signs and wonders by these men faded with the true Apostles and Prophets as part of our foundation (Eph 2); we do see the call to go preach the gospel all over the epistles; so we know it is for us still today.
Many thanks
****God be praised
