In the past; (even more recent times) I have run into men who partake of the practice of kilt wearing. It originated in Scotland but has spread all over the globe and it is often linked to the playing of bagpipes.
For this article; I wanted to quickly address the hypocrisy in those who do such things, yet claim Jesus because they do not obey His Word.
I have known of many men who dress like the culture but then go out of their way to partake of the foolishness of man made customs like kilts with all the adornment, prideful/patriot ways about it. In doing so they ignore the ordained ways of God on how to dress as saints. This is rank hypocrisy that my Holy Holy Holy God abhors. See Matt 23
For the following reasons they need to test their hearts and repent:
1) These men who claim Jesus for salvation are in sin as they clearly dress like the culture but; they do not OBEY God in their dress. God Himself in Genesis 3:21 shed blood / placed mankind in a tunic like garments and it never changed. See the link to many teaching articles on that below.
2) to dress in kilts with all the false man made traditions and foolish customs; they conform to the lost world but NOT God's Holy ways. (Romans 12;2 says do not conform to the world)
3) The pride, patriotism, glory, vanity and adornment involved in kilt wearing for show/favor of man is something God HATES. See Proverb 6
4) Not obeying God in all things; shows a lack of a GENUINE saving faith so they are in grave danger of His wrath as they serve sin to death. Romans 6;16
5) Many men will reject the command that God did in Genesis 3. Paul who wore a robe/tunic and he said to keep the traditions he handed down 2 Thess 2;15 / They will say; that tunic wearing is somehow feminine; yet these same men will wear a kilt which is basically a short skirt. How confusing and it shows their lack of godly obedience.
See this article about Islamic men (they wear tunics) that defeated both the Russian and American military. Go tell them they are feminine!
(per them I guess Jesus was feminine too as he wore a robe/tunic also)
6) The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit 1 Cor 6 and by tossing on a kilt (tradition made of man) they are ignoring God's command for dress and in a act of rebellion liken to witchcraft per 1 Sam 15
7) We are to be examples to the flock 1 Peter 5:3 and could you ever imagine Aposlte Paul or Jesus (who we are to imitate per 1 Cor 11) ever tossing on a roman traditional garment "for fun" that was OUTSIDE of God's Holy ways?
8) I promise you if a claimed saint will put on a kilt and walk around in public in pride, patriotism and drawing attention to himself in that way; he is full of other fleshly sins of the heart. Jesus said we know a tree by its FRUIT. Matt 7:16
How many more points do you need against kilt wearing as a claimed saint of the Most High God?
If a saint will wear a kilt; why would he NOT adjust it and wear daily what is fully biblical and God ordained for the body Christ bought with His blood? Eph 2;13
Note:
If you can believe this; I have had men who wear kilts for fun fleshly events; mock me for my daily obedient biblical tunic wearing. My striving is God ordained / holy while theirs is man made of man and vain. If you think these matters of dress are unimportant you are wrong! Men who will not kill their flesh to wear what God ordained daily are just plain prideful carnal men.
Jesus in Mark 7 called pride EVIL:
For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
It is my prayer these sinful "kilt wearing claimed believers" check their hearts as they may not be born of God at all if; they willingly choose to rebel against the Lords ways.
His anger will be upon all the children of wrath! Eph 5:6
