Ephesians 4:13
"Till we all come into the unity of the faith"
This verse is often misused by those who strive to cling to ecumenicalism.
Ecumenicalism is the practice of over looking sound biblical doctrines to link up with (associate to) those denominations or groups that teach some false doctrines.
Many use the Eph 4:13 verse to ignore doctrinal differences as they strive for ecumenicalism among varied denominations. That is scripture twisting and sinful as it is NOT what Paul meant in Eph 4 at all.
Why?
Just a few verses later we read this in verse 14:
"That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ".
We cannot ignore differences in doctrine for the sake of unity lest we sin against God. The Word is clear!
Paul ( the Word of God ) says this too:
Romans 16:17
"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them".
Gal 5:9
"A little leaven ( sin ) leaveneth the whole lump".
We do not show godly love (that is the truth) by ignoring false doctrines. No, we are to lovingly expose them per Eph 5 / 1 Tim 1:20
