As followers of Jesus Christ, we felt the need to start this page to help encourage believers to be prepared in the evil days ahead of this world. If you live in a big city apartment or in a rural setting on some land, there are things you can and should do for wisdom to be prepared in the days we live in.

Cash Reserve
I like to teach people that a key part of homesteading is being prepared. That is why we set up a stable dwelling, grow and store food, have a good water supply and learn valuable skills to be more self reliant in life.
I also need to remind you that along with all of that is the need to have cash on hand for emergencies and some stability. I suggest about 3 months worth of living expenses is a good goal. I teach being debt free as a critical factor in life so this fits right in. ( see my article on 3 freedoms in Christ ) If you are not there yet and wondering how can I have some cash on hand if I am not yet debt free yet, I have some suggestions:
*do not send all your money off to pay off debts / hold some back each month to build your cash fund.
*take stock and sell off things that are excess that you wont need in the homesteading simple life.
*ditch your credit cards unless you pay them off monthly
*look to cancel expenses like entertainment, high cost phone bills,
hobbies, trips and anything that is not aimed at the homestead prepared life. ( make priorities / kill your flesh )
* stop eating out, hair cuts, expensive clothing, gift buying ect and save that money for your homestead goals
*stop children's sports/ parties/ even holidays that eat up time and money ( sports and most holidays are not of God anyway )
*down size your home to a smaller less expensive one then work towards your homestead home/
*get rid of the high car payment and drive a used car. ( we have a 1996 camper van and it is the best vehicle I ever had/paid $3000 for it, praise God! )
*maybe dad can swing a p/t jb for a season to build up that cash fund
Just some ideas.....
Make a goal and go for it folks!
It is hard work but it is also fun to see how much cash reserve you can get saved up so you can have that area of life prepared. Then work towards your next goals in homesteading life. All of this takes energy, dedication, perseverance, sacrifice and planning but you wont get there unless you get moving, amen?
Stay tuned .....for much more to come!
